I'm going to sell a bike for a buddy, but fancy getting a rough guide on a price.

It's a restricted 2004 RS125, under 6500km on the clock.
Has no MOT or Tax currently as he bought it and lost interest, got a car.

Physically, all the parts on there have lots of life, tyres, pads etc.

It hasn't been started for months, so will need a battery, probably a carb strip/clean and a bit of fiddling, but if you know this bike, you know this is standard maintenance Wink

Will get some photos up, but it is essentially this model - https://www.bikez.com/pictures/aprilia/2004/25118_0_1_2_rs%20125_Steffen%20Skaarud.jpg

I would of thought it could be sold for £2000 maybe more If all the service history, MOT's and it is ready to run. Could you sort the bike out then take a few hundred for sorting it out and getting it road worthy (do the work yourself)? I would of thought just selling it as it is the average price would be something like £1400-1600 maybe more.

If I was a teenager and didn't have any experience of maintenance it would cost me a lot with a garage and labor to put it on the road. I think there is now a demand for an older rider who would like a rs125 as a bike to own besides others and can become a teenager again with the 33BHP it can put out it certainly is attractive to me.

When I need a rough price I like that i normally just go and look at completed listings on ebay. Judging by whats been sold recently and for what price you would be lucky to get anywhere over 1300 for it.

I have no desire to fiddle with his bike. If there is 1 thing I have no direct mechanical experience of, its a 2 stroke.

So, £2000 is way too optimistic, wouldn't expect that price anyway.

If it was offered to the BCF masses at £1100 as it is?

...then anyone showing an interest would be told to do their DAS and get a 600...?

I can get an MOT on there, that's probably the easy bit. Laughing

To give you a comparison a mate of mine bought the same year bike off a mechanic at his work. He had bought it new then lost interest in it and it sat for 7 years. Long story short my mate bought it for 600 with no MOT etc, got it MOT'd taxed and cleaned carbs etc and sold it for £1100. That was with one minor mark on the panels, slight rust on the exhaust, 12 months MOT and 12 Months tax.

Cheap as chips.

I would never buy an RS125 for more than about £700 anyway. I'm just cheap.

I've picked up bargain bikes before so have no real concept of "average decent prices"

Id say Mot,d and its worth upto 1500 if in as good as nik as seems, if mileage genuine and restricted helps LOTS for a buyer not wanting a thrashed rs.

Winter price 1200' any less and its steal territory imo.

Yeah assuming nothing expensive is required for the MOT then £1200 for a nice low miles clean 125 sports bike with a strong reputation for being good to ride and fast, is a bargain!

Best to probably show some pics of it and any scratches etc, and also list what you think it will need for the MOT and to get on the road, if your going to sell it without a ticket.

If I didn't have a KMX to fix and wanted a nice bike to just fettle and ride, i'd have probs offered you £1k for it as is! If It was an MX125 instead of an RS, id have been banging on your door with some cash mate!

The lack of mot will likely see a 800 value est, way too low.

It will fly through the MOT from what I've checked, things on that are better than some bits on my CBR600RR Thumbs Up

If not rushed and if it is true of what it seems, its a classic type bike now, and in that condition .....

If that was my bike to sell, even in winter, id want a min after fees to be 1300 ....

If ticketed and he needs the money fast, then 1100 min imo.

The right buyer with cash to spare and more than one interested party, would see plus 1500 .....

Would need marketing well, and have all things there that insures its the genuine mint example that you may well know it to be ...

I see a lot of low mile rs 125 bikes on the internet and know some people who have bought and sold them and you could easily get 1500-1700 depending on condition and service history etc. A low mile 2009 / 2010 you are looking at £2500 +

People pay a premium for full service history, low mile bike that hasn't been thrashed.

But on the other hand people ie young buyers want a bike to ride you will do yourself a favour by mot ing and taxing, buyers will pay a premium to buy a road worthy bike, peps don't want the hassle of mot, and especially taking away on a trailer

6.5k on it and if it's been screwed then you'll need a engine rebuild in 2-4k .. great little bike for country lanes once deristricted ..
shattered the piston in mine doing 90mph ...pulled the head and seen what it needed to much for me so sold it for £500
