Hi guys,

Need a recommendation for a magnetic tank bag for my ER-5. Got a budget of around £40.

Would be nice if it was one of those that you could wear as a rucksack once taking it off the bike, but not essential.

Obviously needs to be of decent enough build quality etc. but the larger the capacity the better really. Would like something that's just quick and simple to carry things around with me, and then pops straight off once I've arrived wherever I'm going Smile.

I've searched Amazon/Google etc. but I'm really unsure on what's good and what's decent.

Help please!

Cheers

for £40 you looking at oxford, or the finest aldi / Lidl offerings with change to spare. These have a shoulder strap rather than rucksack style straps.
We should be due the annual aldi / lidl bikefest of accesories soon so if your not desperate, hold onto your cash and when it comes around the news will be posted on the forum

Not super desperate as I won't have the money to get my bike insured for at least another couple of weeks. When does the "aldi/lidl bikefest" thing start then haha Razz?

These are very good and have a shoulder strap for carrying.

I have the Lidl tank bag too. Its the one I use for my daily commute (it holds butty box, waterproofs, spare gloves/socks/pants, chain lube, and all kinds of crap. Cannot beat it for the money. The Streetline bag is better build quality and better waterproof cover. I use this for longer journeys when i am likely staying overnight. Loads of room for waterproofs, trainers, jeans, etc etc.

I've got a Hein Gerrick magnetic tank bag, and I rate it very highly. It has a pull-out storm cover, but it's almost not needed - the main compartment is pretty much waterproof as it is.

I borrowed one of these before from my ex's stepdad:

Was brilliant although it didn't have rucksack straps. Covered around 1000 miles with it at up to 100mph and it didn't budge an inch.

No one really knows, it just happens. But when it does, news of it goes viral on the various motorcylce message boards. then on the day get down there very early before someone bags the lot and puts em on ebay, try subscribing to the newsletter from both companies so you`ll know in advance

Well the Hein gericke streetline is £30 (down from £50) at the moment... Is it worth just ordering that, or are the lidl/aldi deals really that good that I should wait for them

Unless they drop a £60 tank bag to a tenner, would it not just make more sense to have the streetline?

Don't know much about sale price/quality but check eBay... they seem to be selling cheaply on there https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=tank+bag&_sacat=0&_odkw=tank+bag+rucksack&LH_Auction=1&_osacat=0&_from=R40

Cheers for that Jordan, just saw a dirt cheap Oxford one on there with a 38L capacity... told my mum about it 'cause this would be my last thing for Christmas, and she said "Oh, well I've already bought that Streetline one from Hein Gericke for you this morning" ahhah Razz.

Thanks guys :')

Irrelevant now you've bought one, but I've got one of those oxford lifetime ones in blue, because it got chucked in with an old bike.

I've cut out the flappy bits that make it rigid (so you can fit more stuff in it) and cut off the rucksack straps (same reason) and it's pretty good.

Didn't fall off at an indicated 140 on the hornet, or 160 on the zx9r, so the magnets are strong enough. Cool

That's what I would be going for. But you already got one, so cool.

Too late now but my advice would be to look for a waterproof tank bag I know my next one is going have to be waterproof as the cover for my current oxford tank bag is annoying and without it everything gets soaked.
