With a queue of about 10 people I waited over 40 minutes at the Parcel Farce depot on Saturday collecting my BCF secret santa in that time only about 2 or 3 people had been served, you could hear them laughing and joking behind the screens, then when it got to 12.30 you could hear the moaning as the door wasn't locked yet, when one suggested the queue was because the door had'nt been locked I had to correct him, General I believe there should be a nationalised postal service but not this shower of twats!

What other choice do people have?

Parcel force, I have only had good experiences with. Usually cheapest apart from Yodel which I will get on to later.
city link NEED a signature, good for B2B but not for domestic, also a bit pricier.
DHL, good but expensive.
DPD, Good as well in my experience.
Yodel, Shittest wankiest re branded shit munching scumbags.

For me, it is royal mail or Parcel force as they are the same thing pretty much and work with local PO's. No need to travel 50 miles to the "local" city link depot.

I have to deal with them every day. We've tried most of them and quite frankly Parcel force, City Link, DPD and Yodel (HDNL) are crap.

If you want it done properly you need to use one of the big players, UPS, DHL, FedEx, TNT. Their prices look horrific at first but, as a business user, discounts are big.

Yodel (HDNL) have particular problems because they use pretty much anyone to deliver parcels and very few fucks are given by those people. Most of the others, City link and DPD just didn't bother turning up for their collections the year before last at Christmas so we dumped them.

Of course it's slightly unfair to tarnish all of them in all locations based on which depots serve this area but that's all I have.

Tracking is not for the recipient, it's for the protection of the person actually paying for the service.

Not a postie just more of Hetzers inane anti system, power to the people, tin foil hat, gay pride, womens rights and what ever other shit he constantly complains about and never does anything about it, apart from calling them scum on a forum.

I think I would have more time for his rants if he actually did something about it, just constant whinging over one government department or another, I doubt he even gets to the "I will write a letter....." stage, just moans and whinges about how everyone is scum and how this country is shit and how all the government need to be put down.....on a forum.....if you find it that bad actually do something about it.

Actually, I have no idea what you're on about, something about a parcel in Africa?

They can't magic up more vans at this time of year, and I understand that the consequences of van drivers being tired or in a hurry can be unfortunate.

Our local Yodel knock-and-runner is actually OK, but you'd better believe that delivery is at the mercy of his whim.

Which got me to thinking that the problem is senders paying in full for dispatch. There's something to be said for the incentive of putting a shiny guinea directly into the hand of the postie at delivery.

Parcel force although are part of RM group, have nothing to do with RM letters and parcels, and likewise.

Just like any other courier tbh.

Apart from the whole, if you are not in, your local PO is more than likely a lot nearer than a couriers depot.

My opinions are based on personal use for shipping things of all sizes.

At work we use DHL and they always seems pretty good but a few £££ extra for a medium sized business for a reliable courier is worth it.

The majority of issues with personal deliveries is knocking on the door and leaving a note which is not an issue for businesses.

Quite agree.

I feel it his complaint would also be more substantiated if he realised that 48 hours meant 2 working days, as per their T+Cs.

Sent over the weekend, was it...

Yep 40 mile round trip for DPD, about 23 for Yodel, 4 for the Royal Mail sorting office. Parcelforce usually leave it at the main post office which is even closer.

RM tracking actually seems to work when I've used it, both Yodel and DPD doesn't. Yodels drivers don't scan the reminder card number on the system so you need the original sender's journey number to track it. Their phone system is useless too. DPD tracking numbers usually refer to someone else's parcel or one that was delivered 3 months ago. Their phone system is nearly as bad as Yodels.

RM and Parcelforce may be a bit crap but they largely work unlike their competitors. The day when all you have got is the likes of Yodel and DPD and similar race to the bottom privatised garbage is when you'll thank fuck for what you currently have.

If the problem had been taken up with Parcel Force at some point before posting about it on a motorbike forum (?!), I'm sure they'd have told you the above.
