So I am re-doing my bike licence (long story) and the Mrs takes me out today to get me a bike for commuting as an Xmas present.

So what bike did I choose I hear you ask. Fazer? Bandit? CB?

Erm.....

Now I have the bike you can have her.

She did pop to a nearby shopping centre whilst I was buying it and specifically pointed at this one saying "don't get this one"

Me and the shop owner both heard "if you don't get this one your gay"

Honest mistake IMO

This Thumbs Up

How pissed off is your wife that you got that bike against her wishes? Laughing

My fiancée was ever so slightly annoyed that I got the TRX and not a VFR but mostly because it has the most uncomfortable pillion seat in the universe and we go 2-up touring. Rolling Eyes

Why someone else should have a say in what bike you want bemuses me.

My parents never wanted me to have one. I own 5 right now, have owned 30+ and ridden around 100.

They have since given up.

No woman tells me to get a certain bike or sell one... if they did, they would be on eBay. Laughing

Very nice bike sir Thumbs Up

My fiancée knows the deal. If I want something it's my money and my decision. She complained minimally about the incredibly uncomfy pillion seat on the TRX after I sold the comparatively armchair-like ZZR.

Will cut a long story short... Had a restricted licence 8 years back. 2 months after I got my restricted licence I am sitting at some lights and bang..... I black out

Wake up and my right leg has been amputated from the knee down. Anyway want to get back into riding so the DVLA said I need to retake licence with medical condition (was slightly hoping they said that so I could take some lessons and get my confidence back) - so am now doing my DAS

And yep totally agree that no one should tell you what bike to get, however, it was a GSXR that 1. I had my accident on and 2. My mate was sitting behind me on one and unfortunatley he wasn't so lucky in the crash and passed away. Hence why no one wants me to have a GSXR.

FUCK IT!!!!! Lol

Really sorry to hear that. Did someone just not stop for you or the red light and plough right into you? Sick

Some idiot tried to jump the light from my right, lost control and basically skidded into me, knocked me off, and totally ran over my mate.

That is so shit mate Thumbs Down

Fair play for having an amputation and riding though, pretty sure someone on here also has the same and is a courier Laughing Boss.

Still, sounds far worse than my accident and I was moving Shocked

That's a real sad story but I'm glad it hasn't put you off riding. Big kudos for riding with an amputation too, that's hardcore shit! As for not getting a Gixxer the same could have happened on a CG125! A few tonnes of metal ploughing into you at any speed is going to hurt!

Yeah, I feel a little bad for asking you to share now. But thanks for doing so.

Sorry to hear about that incident, but its pretty damn awesome what you're doing, and good luck with that gixxer.

Cheers all,

Don't be silly, I don't mind sharing at all! Luckily it was my back brake leg, only need a hand control break, great for being on one wheel..... In case you loose the other wheel of course.

I failed my last mod 2 (read 'rant about examiner' in new bikers) but got another one early Jan, fingers crossed!!

All kudos to you. Why go for a sensible bike when you can have a Gixxer Laughing Keep upright mate.

yep, that's Eggs Benedict.

Karma for riding again, and here's hoping you get a better examiner next time too.

Check out those curves!

Like I said in the other thread, kudos for having the balls to get on a bike again! I'd like to think that if anything like that ever happened to me, that I'd get back on a bike. I just love it too much and I wouldn't be me if I gave it up just because of the fact it's risky Laughing

Out of curiosity, what was it like waking up to find your leg amputated? It must be a very strange feeling and I can't really imagine it myself Confused

Tbh the first 2 years of the amputation is a bit of a blur.

But I do remember waking up and having itchy toes, still get feelings like that - now that was strange.
