Hey,

Picked up a Bandit 400 with no keys.

No issues really, but I have to remove the petrol cap. I am happy to replace the ignition but god knows how I replace the bandit's petrol cap.

Never had to bother with this, my TTR had a flick switch and a twist petrol cap..

Key lock on the cap? Could you drain tank and drill the lock on the cap?

Drill out the petrol cap lock.
They are made of soft as shite pasta, some brass and a few tiny springs.
Just drill a little at a time you will be able to feel each lock section as you drill down.

A guess would be a 10mm drill bit.

Once you get the guts drilled out you can pick at it with a small screwdriver to unlock.

Or you can chance wrecking the tank by prying it off with a Liverpool Door Key.

Go to a locksmith. Get them to make you a new key to fit the lockset.

Not cheap but cheaper than buying a new lockset.

Hmm, do you have a rough price... for a pretty much free bike, the throw away funds are minimal until its proven running Thumbs Up

If you just want to get it open, Google "bump key" - it'll cost you a key blank.

Have you not heard of 'jiggling'? It's not only well-built girls that are good at it.

A bike that age should be quite easy to jiggle the lock if you have a key that is a close fit.

I would say drill out the old one anyway. I had major running issues and it was due to the breathers in the petrol cap getting blocked.

There's two arms which extend when it's locked, holding the cap against the metal of the tank
