WD40 or some other kind of water replant, extend front mudguard so water no longer sprays directly at it all?

Coils getting wet and the HT lead/spark plug, causing misfires is a common problem on lots of bikes (My old Sachs and my current SV suffer from it)

Yep, and maybe smother the lot with vaseline then put a condom over the lot. Remember the top gear episode where they crossed the river?

Firstly your post comes across as very angry and yet you want us to help you?.

Some pictures might help so that we have a clearer idea of the problem?

Do the parts get hot? ...... if not, cant you wrap them in plastic?

Are the wires joined properly? ......... what about soldering the wires together?

The unit? is that the cdi? or the regulator/rectifier? ............... can it be mounted somewhere else on the bike so it does`nt get as much water in it`s face?

Vaseline will degrade the johnny though....

This is why I hammer on the point that the critical question to ask before buying any bike is "But what about parts"? Warranty support isn't worth much if you buy from some back alley importer who gets in crates of bikes but no parts for them.

There's little point in you ranting at them if they genuinely just can't get parts for it. You need to help them find a solution, then get them to pay for it. In this case, it sounds like you'd be better off trying to find an equivalent part. It's an ignition coil for a single cylinder 125: 12 volts go in, many volts come out.

I'm not entirely sure what that engine is copied from though. It seems to be a 56.5mm bore OHC, so it's not the Honda CG125 (OHV), the EN125 (57mm bore). Hello, Jainshe JS-125, although that's supposed to be a copy of the 54.mm square bore YBR 125.

The importer might know, or you could contact CMPO (yes, I know it's not Chinese) and ask them if they can supply anything suitable.

Pics would help, I'm not entirely sure what the problem is. If it's just that there are exposed wires that should be under a rubber cap then it's not rocket surgery to bodge something up. Worst case, just gloop the whole area in silicone sealant.

Disconnect wires, slip over a sleeve made of heatshrink, re-connect wires, slather in vaseline, shrink the sleeve and seal the ends with cableties?

Do you mean the low voltage side of the coil, two spade terminals sticking out? If so most jap bikes don't have a plug at all, just separate L shaped female spade connectors with insulating covers on them.

I know mine used to suffer from corrosion on the front coil (V-twin) and I used to remove them, gently file them and refit the leads. I did once have to squeeze the connector with a pair of pliers to make it grip more tightly.

A piece of old inner tube cut out can be used near the front of the bike to stop spray and crap being thrown too easily over ignition components. Mine was tied to the front down tubes so it hung down like a small curtain.

If it was mine, I'd WD40 it before every ride in the rain, and also if you stop for petrol etc. It will stink though.

Looking at it, its not going to help that the whole lot is getting soaked, Ideally want some form of cover between the bottom of the oil cooler (thats the grill you refer to) and the top of the engine, and then perhaps another cover from the bottom of the oil cooler over the coil etc. You could bodge one from a 2L drinks bottle, That is exactly what I did on my old crappy 125.

HTH.

Is the coil meant to be mounted there?

Usually a coil is mounted up high under the tank and bolted to the frame. Nicely out of the way there, with two good strong earth points.

The coil appears to be dangling behind the radiator, in possibly the worst place to put a coil.

Is the original mounting point damaged, or is it just a shit design?
