Well after nearly 400 miles of riding on Tuesday (Donnington Park and back), Ive finally got my new bike back home.
Journey there was 187 miles and I had to stop three times due to getting cramp in my leg, and my wrists beginning to hurt. Cost me two tanks of fuel in the RSV so £35ish.
On the journey home, I stopped just once and that was after doing 150 miles. Made sure the tank was full when I left, and brimmed it again when I got home. Cost me £23.50 to get home and that was on one tank too.
Here it is, my Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird, also came with a baglux tank cover too.

Very nice, went to buy one that had been resprayed green, looked good but didnt suit the bike. These are awesome sporty tourers, nice purchase, watch your licence though! ____________________ Current bike: Honda Goldwing 1500/6 (dont hate me!) Thunderace gone to South Africa!

Very Classy, very Honda and very good bike IMO! The Blackbird is arguably the best big sports tourer out there, and is just very nicely balanced and very nicely finished too!
My Dad's friend had one for about 3year's a Metallic Blue PGMFI later one, and he loved it. He did sell it after test riding and buying a VFR800, as he said the VFR was much more nimble, easier to ride quickly and better for short rideouts and riding with mates on sports bikes etc.
However once you have experienced 1137cc of silky smooth turbine like power and ridiculously strong midrange torque and effortless roll on performance, you never want to go back. This led to him buying a 12month old ZZR1400 as a newer Blackbird replacement.
The VFR still does some things better than the Bird or ZZR, but after a year or so with the ZZR, he said it's not as good a compromise as the Blackbird, and feels a bit heavy and unwieldy for anything other than long distance 2up fast touring. The Bird was better for some things an even though it's not a nimble bike like lighter sports bike, it does nothing worse than the ZZR does, which is just a big long weighty beast with a furnace for powerplant, and very little finesse or composure.
I personally love parts of the ZZR14, but it's a big long heavy bike, geared for stupid speed, and with a riding position that only makes sense for high speed tucked in continental blasting.
All that said, I see a guy riding one home most days in his builders gear, with high vis and steel toe work boots on, and often with loads of shopping strapped or bungied on the pillion seat and in a tailpack. I bet that's been fun to ride into and out of a muddy slimy building site in this cold wet gripless weather! |

Thanks guys.
The flames will be coming off, just need to find the time to do it what with work and everything, need to find out the heat gun too, get them warmed up a bit first so they come off a bit easier.
Seating position is still lent forward slightly, but no where near as much as a sports bike. Got alot more room.
Yeah it is a bit of a big old thing, makes my brothers 9r look quite small lol ____________________ Speed doesn't kill. The sudden stopping does.
