With the holidays the maids are on leave. It has been a week. The house gets so dirty in a week I couldn't stand it any more. So this morning kids and I dug in and cleaned bathrooms, showers and tubs, kitchen, swept, vacuumed, mopped floors, polished wood, ironed etc. Took 2 hours and house spotless.

Oi, maids don't come back till the 3rd. Will have to do it again before that.

When you don't have maids how often do you clean, or does bcf indulge in grunge?

I dont know, all my untidiness dissapears overnight. One housemate is my maid, hes damn good too. I think once a week maybe. No children so most mess is just equipment, projects and clothes, and the dirt that falls off boots.

Law. All workers must get 10 cosnecutive work days once per year. The rest of leave doesn't have to be in one shot

And kitchen and bathrooms? Dirty floors bath rooms and kitchens drive me nuts. Never dishes or spills lying around here. Leaving food is asking for roaches, flys and ants. Those little black bastards are quick to move in and difficult to evict once they claim squatter's rights Mr. Green

Excuses, excuses. Always the fault of the state - man up and take some responsibility.

No but they do wash my clothes with OMO. The government hasn't banned OMO yet for being racist since they advertise 'makes whites whiter and Coloureds brighter'. But they don't do anything for blacks Laughing

bathrooms are easy... a) don't piss on the floor. b) wipe the tub out after you've finished in there. just those will make it less of a hassle to give it a once-over every few days to a week.

kitchen, don't waste food and leave it lying around. could look up a system called "clean as you go", it's most appropriate for kitchens.

basically things need to be cleaned most days, so that you can do a decent weekly clean and it doesn't take all day.

how the other half live eh

I'm thinking of being a REAL dominatrix just so I can have a maid clean the house for me.

If I were to pay for a maid, it wouldn't be for housework. Razz

Regarding my own tidyness, it's certainly NOCD Wink

when I had staff, the apartment was cleaned all the time and always neat and tidy. Now Im no longer in that position and the kids have left home, it gets done when I can be bothered although im struggling to cope with my daughter and grandchildren staying with us as the place constantly looks like Beirut.

They are moving into their new place when Ive got the decorating finished before the carpets can be fitted. Bit difficult when im watching the kids when shes at work but hopefully by the New Year. I do miss having maids Sad

)Our DAUGHTER is there with her kids? Do they have hands and feet? Why are they not pitching in?

I still have 2 on duty. The Bosch sisters. Both white. One does the dishes and the other does the laundry. They never leave the kitchen, never take holiday, only cost money when they are working, never talk back, and when they get old they won't mind when I replace them with younger models Mr. Green and they are far cheaper to operate.

I prefer to separate the duties of WIFE so it is not all in 1 holding me to ransom. Washing Ironing Fucking Etc each done seperately so a failure of 1 doesn't affect the others Mr. Green

I spend about an hour most nights after work and then go over everything for about 2 hours at the weekend.

Krad, all adults in this house work full time, the kids are two and three, they make a mess and Im on holiday as is the nursery so im looking after them. normal service will resume once they are in their new place, three adults and two tornados in a two bed cottage is too much.

It's time to clean up when you can't see the floor for crisp bags.

When I was in Singapore, if my maid was on leave we had another one as fill in for her, so the answer would be never, as she brought the cleaning stuff with her .

At home I've no idea, it's not my job, I go out to earn the pennies
SWMBO does the housework.

That age is a handful. The most you can get out of them is to tidy up things on the floor. I'm not looking forward to being an oupa. 10 years maybe. People breed earlier here. Mid 20s.

Concentrate the mess into a small place and it quickly builds up. 5 of you in a 2 bedroom? 1 bathrooom? Ai jai you will spend your day on your hands and knees, and I don't mean in prayer or in pleasure Mr. Green
