Fucking yanks and their straight roads and lack of corners, bike tyres are designed for bike, so only a fucking retard would put a flat tyre on something that requires a round tyre to corner...

Not just america...

A thread on darksiders...
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=3416553

Not really going argue either way but agree with Stinky in that thread, most people that haven't tried it shoot it down straight away. The ones that have tried it and use it praise it.

Similar to Stinkwheels comment I remember in history that people used to think trains would stop cows producing milk and other random stupid stuff.

Personally I like the idea of a bigger tyre one road near me has a crack down each lane right in the middle, annoying riding along the road on a normal bike.

Last time I saw a road car tire on a motorcycle it was a BMW with side car, where it does make sense, but this, i think it makes it dangerous? Thinking

This I thought I bike needed lean to go round a corner.would a car tire prevent this and make the bike want to go straight on? Can see the reason for longer tire life . Thumbs Up

No, if you read the thread posted you'll see that it doesn't do that. It changes the characteristics or cornering but doesn't necessarily make it dangerous. I've seen a video of a demonstration with a car tyre and you can clearly see how it stays in contact with the ground and allows it to corner.

Note: Some people have tried the darkside and changed back. Bungie used the CT for an epic Alaska trip, then changed back to a moto tire. LDryder used the CT for a 49++ ride and changed back to a moto tire. Coastalcop has sold his FJR. Some riders choose to do this for a specific trip or rally, but still feel the handling of a moto tire is their preference and return to that afterwards. As has always been said, this isn't for everyone, it's simply a possible option and you should carefully consider your needs and preferences as well as the safety concerns and liabilities involved before choosing to try this.

Reading this part, even on US roads, some riders tried this and went back to normal moto tyres for natural handling.

The fuel consumption has to go up, so in the end who knows if it's really that worth ti, to make your bike straight liner and dangerous when wet on a twisty road, since the tire is not designed to do some decent lean angles. + No one would let you to have car tire on a motorcycle here Rolling Eyes

It would be an MOT fail unless you have a friendly place will turn a blind eye.
However do check the previous thread (linked above).
It's not as black and white as you would think and handling is not seriously compromised in normal road riding.

Parts of America are like that. Some parts of Appalachia and New England are twistier than here. The ones in those parts probably wouldn't use car tyres.

But out in Arizona, Nevada and California, it makes a degree of sense.

My tyre last time I changed it. I do loads of motorway milesso lookat the near perfect edges and flat centre.

There is some merit, but really what is needed is a better bike tyre.

Yes, but what about police? I'm no outrunner and on that car tire, I just don't feel it'd be easy Smile

If the police officer wants, he leans forward and reads what's on the tire. Dimensions, speed index, road or race use and so on.

I don't know what is crucial in the UK, but here, you can get a fine for not matching tire dimmensions with your ''technical certificate'', not matching speed index and so on. And I do believe that if an officer saw a road car tire, he'd definitely say something Smile

EDIT: that tire dimmensions and speed index is quite rare reason to get a fine for, but a car tire on a motorcycle is also not a common thing Laughing
