Just a thought I'm an all year round rider so i will be still using my motorised bicycle for the next couple of months or so...am i right in thinking i would be better off getting a part worn for the next few months as cornering will be limited instead of buying a brand rear tyre and squaring it off in the shit weather ? My mother seems to disagree i often like her input but i think im right so just to check I've decided to bring this to the Gents and ladies of bcf

That's what I'd do. Part-worns are so cheap, it's worth getting them, like you say, rather than squaring off a quality tyre.

Obviously none with canvas showing.

Just make sure the part worns aren't punctured or anything. As long as it's safe and legal... who cares. For the price you're paying, you could buy multiple part-worns for the price of one new.

Am I missing some point here.?

I would have thought the winter months are the time when you need a new tyres qualities the most.?

There is no way I would contemplate a 2nd hand tyre on either a car or a bike, but that is just perhaps me that wants peace of mind not knowing what kind of life the previous owner has given it.

If I am wrong I would really like enlightening as to why.?

Ive always got part worns and never had a problem, i cant see what the possible problem would be.

So long as its not punctured or plugged that is, but thats obvious.

As long as you check for splits, bulges, punctures, cold tears, etc. it's going to be as fine as any tyre you'd normally have on.

If you're just pootling along in the wet conditions then a tyre you don't mind squaring off is ideal... I can't lean in the wet so I'd prefer to square off a £30 back tyre than a new £110 one.

The main thing is making sure in winter they're decent tyres for the wet.
