By this i mean like joins between collector boxes and headers e.t.c.

Theres a slight gap in mine at the moment, not major but needs sorting really (because its looseing me power noticeably, if that is it, not just the hole its probaly got the carbs out of ballence too)

Putting a rag over the exhaust it dosen't stop the engine, it chunders on quite happy, which as far as i can tell means there is a pretty significant hole there...

Soooooo because

a. im cashless
and
b. i dont have time to do a proper job of it

What can i use to patch over it, i have a tin of gun gum (exhaust sealing paste) what would make a good "bandage" which i can press down with a jubilee clip, preferably something that will last a bit and wont bust into flame...

Any ideas?

you can seal it with gun gum and use the Gun Gum tape as well, its a tape that can withstand major heat, Made for exhausts, so i guess you could use that? its like sticky back Tin foil, but i used it on my old exhaust,

Gun gum make exhaust bandage as well, you wet it, wrap it round then wire it in place to bake solid.

Alternativley, you can get braided glass fibre string and tape for sealing the doors on solid fuel stoves. Pack it in there, twist some wire over to hold it in place then fill any gaps with gun-gum. You can clart the whole lot in gun gum then cover over with a cut open beer/baked bean tin and fix at both ends with a big jubilee clip to make extra solid.

This type of repair either lasts for ages or fails within 50 miles.

Sorry guys, Gun gum and fire gum are no good and will vibrate off.

Try "Quicksteel" it's around £6.00 - £7.00 it's like to bits of plasticine you mix them together in your hands then squash it into any spaces or holes you can find.
It can also be used on Boats and fuel tanks, it sets in around 20 mins and then you can hit it with a hammer and it will not break.

I have been using it for a couple of years now and it's the best thing in the UK.

I even rebult CBR600 downpipes with it and used it for about 6 months till I sold the bike.
