Hi
Few conversion charts around. From one old one a 3.00 tyre goes on a 1.85 rim, being the appropriate size with 2.75 and 3.10 also being appropriate and a few larger sizes acceptable. A 80/90 is also the appropriate size with a 90/90 being acceptable.
A 2.15 rim would go with a 3.25, 3.50 or 3.60, or a 90/90. With a 100/90 being acceptable but a bit over size. A 2.50 rim would go with a 4.00 or 4.10 tyre, with a 100/90 being also appropriate.
On that basis it could be that you have a 2.15 rim with the current 100/90 being a touch over size (but within reason) and a 3.00 being a touch undersize (but again within reason).
All the best
