Thinking of buying a road bike

I'm getting fat.

Last year I put on 2 stone and am nearly nudging 16 stone, so to shed the excess I'm thinking of getting a road bike but I don't really know what I need.

I've seen the Btwin Triban 3 recommended a couple of times on here which at £300 would come in at the very very top of my budget.

A quick look on ebay threw this up, which to me looks more or less the same but for almost half the price.

As a fatty who hasn't ridden a bike much at all in the last 5 years, will I notice the difference in a more expensive bike or will I be wasting my hard earned?

If I was in your position I'd probably go for the cheap bike just incase you get bored of cycling.

Triban every time. And get Strava on your phone. And invest in some decent shorts. And get some half decent shoes, cleats and pedals. SPD-SL will do the job nicely...

i dont know how heavy the triban is but that viking is so heavy its ridiculous its 4lbs heavier then my 7inch travel full sus free ride bike. dont do it to yourself

10kg is 22lbs thats not bad at all for the money. but avoid the viking
