Problem with Twist Grip Cg125 too much Freeplay

Really didn't want to post in here if I could help it but this is getting annoying now.

Hi there, I've had a few problems with the Honda CG125 (1989) for a few days regarding the throttle cable. Replaced the throttle cable yesterday and have been out on the bike today, however I've noticed that the twist grip twists the opposite way around the handlebars basically moving around the opposite way before you can actually use it causing extra problems in use.

I'm guessing its just a matter of tightening up some nuts or I've done something the wrong way around; however I've tried to tighten them up and having no joy.

bottom picture, loosen the big nut, then unscrew the longer nut until all the slack is taken up, then tighten the big nut again,
