Well oil or diesel on the road has claimed another victim... going round a round-about today and I hit a massive patch of oil on the road (5mx5m) god knows where it had come from.

I was on the A500 going through Stoke rd, and City rd roundabouts where they are building a new flyover, so there is always loads of mud on the road anyway.

Luckily I was only doing about 25mph when the back end fish tailed and scratched the can on the right, then flipped back and went over to the left.

So I went sliding off down the street with the bike on top of me.

Damage to me
3 fractured fingers
1 sprained elbow
2 bruised knees
1 bruised spine
a bad case of road rash
and broken glass bottle shards in my back

Damage to bike
Bent brake lever
Nasty scratch on the can
Bent mirrors
and other minor scratches

I'm feeling REALLY REALLY shitty now Sad

Its my fault for taking a glass bottle of milk to work for coffee.

I would like to thank the truck driver behind me firstly for not running me over and secondly for helping me with the bike.

Nowt you can do to avoid it really. Hope your back riding soon Thumbs Up

I feel extra shitty this morning back hurts and my arm feels dead.

The bike isn't too bad luckily I've had a hunt round for a new brake lever and it was going to cost £14 so being the grandson of a yorkshire man I bent the old one back into shape and resprayed it.

The can will need replacing through Sad

Thats real shitty mate I feel for you. I cant believe she didnt fall for the old 'Ive fallen off my bike kiss it better routine'!! Smile (sorry)

Think its crap you cant hold someone to blame for putting you off your bike. You didnt stand a chance, theres no way you can plan for some tw@t dropping a load of crap over the road. Makes me mad just thinking about it.

Hope your injuries dont cause you too much aggro and your back on two wheel soon Wink

just one more thing though (and im sorry for being a bit of a granny here) please dont ride with a glass bottle in your jacket mate, cant be good for you!

be safe dude

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Cheers people, I do feel a bit better, but I'm stiff as hell now.

I realise that its a stupid idea to have a glass bottle in my bag, I take two, one plastic one with water in it and a small glass one with milk in for coffee. Safe to say that I won't be doing it again.

Sorry to hear that dude, there's nothing worse than being in physical pain and then having some emotional stabbings to go with it.

did you find yourself a hot little nurse at the hospital to look after you or did you get a gertrude? Wink

hope to hear you on 2 wheels again soon! Mr. Green Thumbs Up

I should be on the bike tomorrow hopefully, and going for a run on sunday.

Just keep yourself moving, and hopefully you'll start to loosen up within a couple of days and be right as rain for Sunday Thumbs Up

Not sure about the girl's actions Shocked anyone who had just had an accident turning up at my door would immediately get hot tea sympathy etc - and that would just be off my mother!

At least it wasn't more serious. I am pleased to hear that the bike is ok, and most importantly you aren't too badly off.

Next time, get your milk from co-op in a nice soft non breakable plastic bottle Wink

Ouch, feel better soon dude. Confused You and the bike might be dented, but at least you're both still working. Wink

Edit: Tony it's always best to stay on a bike Wink Thing is with oil is you pretty much won't have a choice in the matter and most of the time it's just a case of doing your best to avoid sliding into some object/car.

I'm all set for taking the bike out tomorrow for work! YEAH! missed it loads and its only been 3 days (bloody thing!)

Some arsehole let slip to my Nan though, so she's threating to take the wood axe to it Shocked Confused LOL!

You don't really need advice for that, it won't make much of a difference what you intend doing!
