I want to remove the large black air box can I change it to a cone or will it need something else mechanically done

you could use a conical air filter, it would be much louder but if the bike is carb'd i assume it would need a rejet because of the greater air flow

Waste of massive effort and time trying to set it up for no real gain.

They come with a airbox and not a cone filter for a reason

Should be as simple a removing clip that holds it onto the carb try go to halfords and try look through it to see how to

i have HAD one of these

and yes, i know the airbox looks like someone took a big black plastic dump on the side of the engine, but a cone filter will fuck up the engine in no time. dont do it.

and it will NOT make it more powerful

Set up properly a cone will work OK.

It will need rejetting, at least a few jet sizes bigger.

Downsides are mainly:
-The cone can get plastered with shite and rain and whatnot and make the thing run like shit until it dries out and/or you clean it. Its in an exposed position on a ped type motor.
-Engine is more sensitive to temperature changes. Can be harder to get running in winter and more issues with carb icing.
-cones can fall off.

If it is set up properly it wont.
