Well, Im glad to be alive atm.

Ive had two near misses coming home from work. One was a classic: volvo driver pulled out on me. Anchors out, luckily there was nothing behind me, and I wasnt on the oil line. If I was on the oil line Id still be picking the various parts of my bike up! Shocked

Second was also a classic. Theres a large motorway style island on my way home from work. The layout is a little wierd, see pic.

Hes in the light green, he pulled out just when I had reached the point of no return. The blue is an area of concrete blocks, they where put there to "calm" the trafic. Theres a little bus lane with a few stops right off the island.

He was sitting in the 15ft between the start of the blocks and the bus lane.

Anyways, he continues, I knew that if I had braked I would have smaked right into the side of him. So I went right into the gutter (its was (before the "trafic carming") a big dual carrage way, so its got a central divide). I could have reached out and polished his bumper if I had of wanted.

Unfortuneatly I wasnt able to take the mofo's mirror off. Mind you, at the time I couldnt think about anything other than servival.

Why is it that winter and darkness brings out all the mofo's of the roads?

I must admit i noticed this today too. Never mind. Darwinism.... :p i think all cagers should be made to drive a scooter randomly in their driving career. Just for the humour. See how they take it.

All cagers i know who know someone who bikes or has tried biking now looks ALOT more.

Well, steveh, thats pure stupidity mate! Razz

And, volvo drivers are always given a large birth by me, even before all of this.

The mofo who pulled out on me was driving an old knackered vauxhall caviller.

Yep Smile get used to it mate.

There are some pretty hectic roundabouts around here. It's every man for himself, especially at rush hour. Something fun happens there nearly every time I go around/the area.

Keep your wits about you, cover those brakes, and get ready to counter-steer. They’re out to get ya! Smile

Tip: If you see someone approaching a junction fast (ie side road/roundabout etc) get ready to evade, because there is a good chance they will rush up to the junction check for about 0.01 of a second and go. And it’s never enough to notice a bike. Car maybe, but not a bike.

Cover your options at any junction and anywere where there are cars involved really.

Stay sharp.

Ever since I did my CBT I've been looking alot more, even on mountain. Always looking over my shoulder, and constantly telling mother to do the same while she's drving! I think ever cage driver should have a CBT at least before they can drive. I wonder if there would be any difference in the no of crashes. JUst my tuppence contribution.

I bet it wouldn't make any difference, after a while they would forget. I mean mirror checks and good observation is drilled into you while you learn to drive, you have to do it to pass the test, though afterwards a lot obviously just don't bother.

For instance, a friend of mine failed his test due to "having to do the stupid mirror checks all the time, what is the point?" Perhaps some just see it as a routine you have to learn, but doesn't have to be applied to the real world, or something.

Ah, that roundabout. Which brain dead bus supporter put that pointless bus lane there.

All the best

Some clampit in an Astra came out of a driveway in front of me today, emergency stops arn't the best in the wet. Funny thing is I've never really had a problem with car drivers then in the last week I've nearly been wiped out every day with various drivers pulling out in front of me in roundabouts etc. Must be the weather.

Been lucky recently had no 'events' to report up until yesterday when some @rse in a celica did the 'rapid look' junction thing. From my slow motion perspective it looked like it was his passenger who finally alerted him to brake. The strangest part was my reaction though, normally I would have wanted him dead, his family dead and anyone he ever talked to maimed, but this time I just waved and carried on. Confused . bizarre!

take care guys its a rough 'ol world out there!

Nearly had someone pull out on me today. She was looking the other way down a one way street-Bizare!

Mind you, I was undertaking a car going into a car park. A nice little bit of horn did the trick.

Anyone know where I can get a decent AirHorn?

Airhorn, I could do with some of that but it;s the drain on the
battery that worries me, also don't like the idea of fitting all
three of my bikes with airhorns.

Anyway, you can get a kit from Halfords, around £20 I think.

No, I'm trying to find out what your point is.

Bloke nearly gets knocked off. Bloke posts about it. People read post. People maybe realise how easily it happens. What's wrong with that?

And as for 'I don't ride my bike' well you're talking out of your bottom. Razz

I had a car RIGHT NEXT TO ME today, just decided he wanted to be in my lane. THe annoying thing was. He actually drove up next to me, rolled into my lane. THen feebly put up a hand when i started swearing, honking and generally gesturing.

Is that a wingmirrorable offence?
