Hi all, here is my latest burden, an 88 RZR250. I also have a 98 Thunderace and a part restored KMX200. The RZR is a bit of a nightmare at the moment but thats another story lol. Looking forward to learning from the wise ones of BCF with all my numerous issues and making a few new friends!

Another update. My spray booth (shed) is insulated from the worst of the weather but still cold so the finished panels are now hardening in my bedroom (ooer!). Colour scheme is yellow and black, not everyones cuppa but its just a home project paint job. If I get the bike how I want it, I may get her done professionally, although its more than presentable already, yellow is deeper in the flesh than pics. Just the side panels, wheels painted (black?) and a few tasteful graphics will see her finished!https://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/rzr250tankandmudguardsprayedtop.jpghttps://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/rzr250tankandmudguardsprayedrear.jpghttps://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/rzr250tanksprayedos.jpghttps://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/rzr250tankossprayed.jpghttps://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/rzr250mudguardnssprayed.jpg

Slowly coming along but unfortunately the paint supplier has run out of the yellow until the end of January so no updates for a while. Please be gentle with comments as I am on a very tight budget and the spraying has been done with cans by myself and a friend. Before pic:https://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/RZR250OSFR0912.jpghttps://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/RZR250FROSFRESHPAINT211212.jpghttps://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/RZR250FRESHPAINTOFFSIDE211212.jpghttps://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/RZR250TANKBACKONTOPVIEW211212.jpghttps://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/RZR250FRONTWITHGUARDON211212.jpghttps://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/RZR250MUDGUARDBACKON211212.jpghttps://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s201/speedfreaky/1988%20YAMAHA%20RZR250%20PROJECT/RZR250NEWPAINT211212.jpg

Paint job looking great so far !! It's surprising how good a rattle-can spray job can look. I'm going to respray the KMX tank when the weather gets a bit more reasonable, so interesting to see the treatment you used to keep the bottom of the tank rust free.

Hi Dave, I used a zinc primer from a tin, really thick and smooths out really nicely. Not sure what the tank is doing inside though Confused

Thats the whole point lol, they sound buzzy and go like the clappers! The paintwork was crap to say the least when I got her and I have always liked the Kenny Roberts colours but its been done to death so I thought same but different, plus the paint was dirt cheap too Smile

Cheers, stuck her on ebay the other day and then pulled her back off, not sure what to do now as she is sitting under a cover going mouldy, lack of money and other projects to tackle...... Crying or Very sad
