hey guys.

Simple question. I'm buying a new bike. I'm insured on my old DR till feb 18th but I want to get insured on my new bike now! If I do a change of policy its going to cost me £50! If i get new policy its not going to include the extra 1 years no claims I have running on my DR so I'd lose out on that years NCB.

I dont really know the cheapest way to get insured with 5 years NCB not 4 on my new bike.

thanks in advance.

Have you checked online comparison sites to see if the extra one year NCB really makes that much difference? I know it only made a couple of quid difference to mine when I recently had to cancel a policy before my first year was up. If it does make a massive difference then it might just be a case of waiting.

your options are,

a, check the difference in cost between changing your current policy (£50) and starting a new policy with only 4 years no claims not 5

b, short term insurance until current policy expires

c, register the bike in a friends name and ride it under 3rd party extension (depends on your exact policy wording and would add an extra owner to the bikes history)

d, wait the few weeks until the policy expires

id probably just take the £50 on the chin it's £10 a week between now and the policy expiring hardly life changing amounts.
