Hi,

The bandit must know its for sale as on the way some tonight all is well. Then all of a sudden it cuts out. Restart fine and momentarily drops a cylinder when accelerating. It keeps doing this for the last few miles. Very annoyed as its been running better than ever. I started her up in the garage and noticed number 3 cylinders plug cap has sparks coming out of the rubber groomet and reaching the cam cover. I should mention I cleaned the carbs the other day and messed with the leads and its been peeing it down all day.

Is it just a case of snip the end off spray to hello with wd 40 and vasaline the bugger or is this something more serious.?

Very annoyed as I have no power in garage too and had a mare of a day at work!

If you mean the plug cap has come off the ht lead then all you need to do is cut off the end of the ht lead so you have a fresh end, say an inch off the end.

Then you screw it into the top of the plug cap til it is nice and tight. Simples.

HTH Thumbs Up

Sorry as I said posted on my phone and auto incorrect strikes again!

In the thread title racing should say arcing.

Basically even though the spark plug cap was fitted the spark was visible pn the cam cover and not getting as far as the plug. I have cut 10 mil off the lead. Reseated, wd40'daand vasalined the bugger. Time will tell if it was a waste of time

Oh right okay haha. My guess then would be that it was closer to the cam cover than the plug then?

Personally I wouldnt use the wd-40 unless there is water about or vaseline as it will make it more likely to unscrew again. Maybe a bit of silicone around the rim where it sits into the ht lead but as you said, time will tell. Let us know how you get on.

sounds like you need some new plug caps, i had a look down mine when it was running a bit rough and down 3 of the spark plg tunnel was nothing but bright blue electric arcing, changing the caps and all was good

Hi,

Don't want to jinx it, but I reseated the plug caps and it seems OK this morning and last night.
