Looking to upgrade my bike

Currently i have a 1992 GS500. Looking to spend around 3.5k on something with a better midrange.

Not interested in sports bikes as i like a more upright riding position. saying this i dont want a cruiser!

Bikes ive been considering: Bandit, Hornet, Fazer etc

23 with 1 years no claims and 18 months riding experience.

Ideas?

I'd personally say the Bandit's your best bet. The Hornet and the Fazer are both pretty slack bikes. The SV650 is quite a nipp bike though, as is the Monster.

For 3.5k you could very possibly buy and insure a BMW F650. They're quite tall bikes generally, are big singles, but are really comfortable, have oodles of torque, and eminently useable while not exceptionally fast.

Fazer 600s are pretty good too from what I've seen of them. Bandits are wheelie and stoppie monsters, I'm not sure why though. Very Happy

Well the Fazer or the SV650 are probably your best bet.

Both are quite fun to ride and have oodles of power and torque and probably a nice upgrade from a GS500.

Or if your feeling you want something different theres always the Kawasaki ZR-7S, nice upright riding position, bullet proof inline 4 motor, loads of torque and not that common either but still reliable and easy to get parts for.

You could get a late '03 version for about £3k with low miles.
