I was perusing through a selection of paddock stands when it suddenly struck me Idea
my bike has a single swing arm.

I'm presuming this means a paddock stand is out of the question Question

Anybody have any ideas Idea or information on what you use to lift your bike when maintenance is needed.

Cheers

I believe you can get single sided paddock stands

There is another one, abba stand or something, that supports it from the middle where the swinging arm is attached and lifts the whole bike in the air I think.

You can of course get a front paddock stand, I'm not entirely sure but I'd imagine that it'd be more stable that way... Idea

Then how do you get the wheel out?

A front paddock stand is perfectly stable when used correctly, you use them with a rear paddock stand and not on their own as they will be very unstable that way.

In regards to Abba stands, they do not lift the whole bike in the air, the basic Abba stand is designed to lift the rear of the bike in the air, it is much eaiser to use than a normal paddock stand as well. To remove the front wheel with a Abba stands you need to get the bit which lifts the front off the ground, I have just put a lot of weight on the rear of the bike to hold the front off the ground but you can get the Abba stand bit designed to hold the front in the air more securely than lots of heavy stuff balanced on the pillion seat. l had that problem when l had my NC24, in the end l got the bike up in the air using a old engine holtst with rope around the front and rear of the frame, you can get them at car boots etc but there difercult it fit in a garage with out a metal beam.

When the gixxer was out of action, a couple of standard axle stands underneath the exhaust manifold, and a rear paddock stand did the trick.

Downside is you have to take all the plastics off and it can be slightly wobbly if your manifolds are a bit of a funny shape Laughing
Still, the gixxer didn't fall over, and it was without a front wheel for about 2 months (yes I am lazy).

I have the luxury of a centre stand Cool Very Happy .

What's wrong with lifting bikes, i've got to lift and swing round the back of mine ever time i come home to put it in the garden, is annoying when i come home in the early hours of the morning after a long ride and have no strength Mad .
