Wasps are right bastards when you get one in your helmet.

But I find bees are the worst. Was riding along one day and saw something in the sky. A black dot. Target fixation occured and I was staring at it for about 3 seconds, it was getting closer and closer....then wham....in my eye...feckin hurt.....that told me about riding with my visor up in winter!

Bits of bee all over ma face

Flies and various other bugs always seem to be able to aim (even at high speed) for the small air gap that I leave at the bottom of my visor. Shocked

I hate it when I get flies stuck in the back of my throat. Rolling Eyes

This summer I had a wasp inside my motocross goggles! Shocked I was flying down a county road when i noticed it very very close to my eye. "Surely", I thought "That can't be on the inside of my goggles!". After a quick glance in my mirror it hit me - "Oh shite! There's a wasp inside my goggles!" I jammed on the brakes and got to the side of the road, and undid my helmet very carefully. Then in one swift movement grabbed my helmet and goggles and chucked them to the grass.

I think I spent the rest of my ride out laughing my ass off about what had just happened. Smile

I can just imagine the statistics coming out for that one. "A recent study showed that 4.35% of solo motorcycle accidents occur when the rider notices a spider in their helmet."

I demand a 10% discount off my bike insurance due to my not being arachnophobic. Laughing

A few of the native UK spiders are VERY poisonous, the good news is they are too small or ill equiped to break a mammals skin when biting.

My sister used to be sh1t scared of spiders (she's not too bad now).

One day she tried to get out of the car and walk because a small money spider dropped down from the rear view mirror.

Only problem is that she was driving at about 30 mph at the time, and I was the passenger.

All that went through her mind was spider=quick exit and bugger the consequences. Shocked

Pansies! Arachnaphobic? Next you'll be telling me you're squeamish and start wriggling and saying you feel sick when I describe what the surgeon did to my wrist... Rolling Eyes

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not really perturbed by anything I can think of like that. Wasps used to freak me out until I realised that if you leave them alone they'll eventually realise you're not edible and just fly off. Spiders are fascinating things imo. To see fully-grown adults squeal and panic when they see some miniscule eight-legged thing which can't possibly do them any harm is ridiculous.

Back ontopic... I had a fly sat on the cheekpad in my helmet for about half an hour a few weeks ago. It flew into my face when my visor was up, and I thought I'd killed it, but it started moving about and distracting me.

Funnily enough, once I was going a decent speed (50 or so) it stopped moving. When I flicked the fly out of my helmet afterwards, it just walked around for a while, seemingly incapable of flying. After a few minutes it flew away. Very odd.

Exactly what I was just thinking. Imagine what that poor spider is thinking of as it's trapped in your lid and you're blasting down the road.

Spiders aint the worse thing in your helmet...... anyone ever sneezed?

I wont go into details, but this morning I had to stop and wipe the inside of my visor clean! Embarassed Laughing Laughing Damn morning sun getting in your eyes!

I f*cking hate spiders.......If one had been it my helmet I would have probably ripped it off and thrown it over a hedge........then stopped....reminded myslef that I am bigger than he is.....walked back...shacken the little sh*t out and replaced. Then carried on to my destination, looking around the helmet (as much as I could see) to make sure none of his mates were still having a party in there!

Spiders.....my only weekness...well that and gorgeous women! Very Happy Wink
