Ello. Smile

What is the best thing / lubricant to squirt into your ignition to help prevent ingress of water and then it freezing up so it's then difficult to start.

Cheers, Nick

Not sure, but could you not heat your key with a lighter before attempting to start the bike?

Yup. I know that old trick and have used it.

But was wondering if there is a prevention that is better than a cure.

WD-40 to get rid of any water that can freeze inside the lock? Has kept my ignition smooth for the past couple of months after it seized up with some rain in October Thumbs Up

WD40 and then after some graphite lube.

WD40 on its own drys out the ignition lock, you need to relube it afterwards.

Locksmiths say not to use WD40 in locks but I've always done it with good results.

I think I may take the hint that the bike doesn't want to go out today, if it did it to me.

I use some 3 in 1 spray for the locks.
Better than wd40 imo.

I got some handy anti freeze ignition stuff from Halfords a few years ago for 99p. Fab stuff! Bottle had a funny nozzle specific for scooshing into bike ignitions.

Graphite spray is best. Ever since I sprayed WD40 oil on the 125 the switch has been shit, and now I need to spray graphite down it every couple of months, fixes it nicely though. Also cured side stand switch.

Its the same stuff made by same company. I liked the plastic 3 in 1 bottle until it leaked all over my bag
