Whether it's worth a thread or not, I feel sorry for anyone having to go through the new motorcycle licencing system.
Five years, a CBT, theory and three tests to go from a moped --> unrestricted? Pass on that. . ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

Aww now MAG will have to think of another way to have a Jolly ride fake protest protest ride. Wonder what their next topic will be about.
(Anyone confused to what I'm referring to; it's protesting about new laws that affect learners that only went on the motorway where learners weren't allowed). ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

Don't knock what you don't understand Sir.
MAG delibarately chose to 'protest' in way that did not cause nuisance to other road users.
I don't think learners would/should mind 'license holders' protesting in their favour.
It is difficult to do anything else to raise awareness.
Maybe if you wrote to your MP about issues rather than post a lame jibe on here about folk who DO work hard to help biking, your comment would be more worthy.
Or was it just a slack arsed musing? |
Well no learners (including myself) don't mind about license holders protesting but if it affects us then we should have a chance to join in. It's like protesting for women rights then not allowing women to join in with the protesting.
To be honest unless you are causing a nuisance then I personally believe that you won't get noticed or cared about. Understandably it would potentially turn other people against motorcycles for a week but it might have opened up other people as well to what was happening. Look at the amount of press it gained hardly any at all. A ride in London would of most probably gained more effect which included stopping at/going past downing street slowly (surrounding area) where learners could of joined in.
All I'm saying is that their choice of route using motorway only was stupid, but that's just my opinion. Oh an writing to my MP (labour) what would that have achieved a wasted letter he wouldn't of done anything about it he's useless.
Meh its over with now anyway... ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

Aye ^^^ more or less.
Writing to your MP is 1 million times better than bleating on a forum. If he/she doesn't know about minority opinion (which motorcycling in Europe/USA is) then how's he/she to know? Ouija board?
It may do not much but if you do not say anything it is as doing nothing and letting it roll over you.
One voice (pen) may sound like nowt but great things come from small beginnings.
And I am in agreement with the routing. MAG, if you read the newsletters, confront government by lobby not purely by hammer. Hammer does more harm than push. It is a hearts and minds exercise more than a rule change.
The EU are the enemy not our MPs (though they can be cnuts too).
Politician live on other's opinion. If they lose good opinion then they lose the position.
In democracy the majority rules but minority still has to be considered.
This is politics now and I am boring/bored now. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |
