Fine in London. Main roads are clear. Are you looking too hit B Roads, or central city Leeds main roads?

Pick a good line, take it, and you'll be okay. Ride like it's normal conditions - erm, not so much. I went out on a short run yesterday - snow lay all around, not exactly deep and crisp and even. But on the verges, fields and side roads - snow, frozen rock hard slush in the middle of the lanes, and frosty, snowy patches hither and yon. As I was only taking a short trundle to get the engine hot preceding an oil and filter change (which I'd missed about 500 miles ago - ugh), I wasn't out long. But still - it was okay. Wouldn't make that same journey this morning though. No way. Snow fell through the night and the roads look like crap. In summary - depends where you and how you ride, and also might be dependent on the what kind of forecast you've got. Are you going to set out, get 20 miles from home and find yourself in a blizzard on the M1? Shit like that innit.

I could ride in my town, my streets snowy, but I could get out, probably the a6 and a1 are passable, don't care to find out, wouldn't try to leave the borough though if I did go out

Since you're a stones throw away I can't imagine it's much worse there than here matey. Once you are out of the residential bits all the main roads are clear.

Postman told me motorways are clear and traffic is flowing fine in the Reading area down to Swindon, though he admitted he personally wouldn't risk going out on a bike. Ride cautiously and you should be fine though. Me, I'm still waiting for my crash bars to arrive Wink

Not seen a single flake of snow here in SE Cornwall - the kids are well gutted!

Roads are wet but could be some black ice around as air temp is now below freezing.

I personally wouldn't risk it (I'm in Leeds myself). All it takes is for one wrong move or to hit a small patch of black ice and you can fuck your bike up.

This... Except I'm in Reading. When I heard about hahadumball crashing his ZXR750 on a snowdrift I thought "Why the hell is he riding in these conditions?"

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I'm also in Leeds and still managing to get to work and back on the bike as long as I stick to bus routes which are being gritted each day.

Go out, collect man points, ride like a pro and match your actions to the road conditions like an expert and you'll be fine.

This reminds of the story about a bloke who answers the phone one afternoon and says to the guy on the other end, "How the fuck should I know? Why not call the coast Guard you prick?"

His wife asked who he was talking to?

He said, "I don't know who it was, it was just some cnut wanting to know if the coast was clear."

I can't remember... Did I bring a jacket?

One more in Leeds here. I haven't been on the bike all week due to the temperature and now the snow. I live on a bus route so the roads are not the issue for me. I have two main problems;
1 getting the bike out and onto the street, although I guess I could solve this with a shovel and some rock salt.
2 the car park at work is shit and covered in black ice.

I'm lucky enough to have access to a car so I'm just not willing to risk it.
I was tempted a few times this week to go to work on the bike but then I remembered the snow in 2010 when it was fine in the morning and took me 3 hours to drive 5 miles on the night.

It's funny, I saw someone on a blue Bandit this morning and wondered if it might be that guy from BCF.

Guess not though Mr. Green

I went out today.

Getting out of the garage was a nightmare as it's down hill with the 90 degree turn on to the road. Unable to use the brakes whilst going down the hill as it would chuck the front down.

The street I live on was fairly bad. Brakes weren't really usable on that road. Once I hit the main roads it was all good. It wasn't like snow, was just like rain water.

All was good until I got back from ASDA and couldn't get the bike up on to the drive/garage as the rear wheel would just spin up Laughing Left it on the road, unpacked the shopping and then got some help pushing it up Smile
