First one's an SR500 bobber - apart from the fact that I'd change those ape hangers into something half as high this is imo a fantastic looker:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1979-YAMAHA-BLACK-SR500-SR-500-CHOPPER-BOBBER-SOFTAIL-CAFE-RACER-RATROD-/221173642449?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item337ef9f4d1

Second, a t-dub 200. I love the bare tank on this, but the whole bike just yells ride me!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-TW-200-/150898463781?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item23223fd425

Any other window shoppers out there spotted anything of note? Post 'em here if so.

Sorry, but that looks like the sort of horrible retro-rat-bob job, people do to Lexmoto Vixens when they discover that no-one will buy it off them. That should NEVER happen to a 500cc Yamaha.
The exhaust wrap is just the final fail in the coffin for me, I'm afraid.

Isn't the TW just a 200cc VanVan? It's not too bad or too modified really, the VV is already a weird scrambler/cruiser thing.

Haha!! Wtf. Are you serious?? The SR500 is a prime prospect for some surgeory - why'd you think deus ex machina bother? I'm not saying this eBay bike is up there with that level of build. That would be nuts. But you can see where the inspiration comes from, and more pertinently the D.E.M. blokes are using that frame and engine - so it seems a bit daft to say it 'should NEVER happen.'

Some SR500s

Yeah it all gets a bit Yamahuki with the TW and the RV125. I wish the TW250 had been sold over here though.

Agreed, fine for California, daft idea in the UK he says from experience.

Kind of like, but no way would I pay that sort of money for a bike with most of the, uh, bike removed.

Oh absolutely. I'd never actually *buy* a bike like this. I'm far too boring and mean. However, a ratty bobber that probably sounds like a sawn-off Bren gun just errm speaks to me innit.

I sometimes have a glance at street fighters, customs and chops on ebay and think to myself "you expect me to pay more for less?"

I kind of like the minimalist look on those SR 500's but knowing the performance of them to be abysmal would rather an XS 650 in dirt tracker guise Drooling

What in the name of christendom. Is this where Suzuki got the idea for the vanvan?? Laughing

Talking of local bike shops smiler - is norman and birch up hanley still going?? And what's that one not far from the snooker hall that was on city road, was it? Just there in fenton? That's where this old mate of mine, Dicko, bought a brand new tzr250.
