saw a bike on ebay a half hour down the road from me (bit longer travel if your not me lol) went to have a look and told the guy i would let him know in 2 hrs once i had sweet talked the wife. she said yes but the ZZR had to go.......I agreed on HIS asking price on the phone and arranged to pick the bike up the next day at 6pm..... 5pm the next day just before i go to collect i get a text saying sorry i am going to leave it on ebay, and see how much i can get for it but you can have first refusal. I told him thanks but no thanks and would spend my cash elsewhere.....so i spent a fair few notes on ebay in the early hours buying parts for my ZED lol......rant over
sorry about the lack of sentence structure and punctuation but it is a hot tempered rant
here is the bike
i noticed upon inspection turns out exhaust clamp is snapped and blowing and also has a very noticable 3rd gear issue "oh is there i hadnt noticed" he said
scottoiler is not working and few cracks on fairingfs and random bolts everything else seems ok but it was very cold
ok bike for its age if you dont mind working on it, but seriously some people

A cash buyer in the hand is worth 30 whiny eBay buyers in the bush.

He'll probably come to regret that decision.

Screams crashed and bodged. But that's just my mind saying that.

Why spend parts on your bike, sell it as it is, buy a nice bike, wait for a bargain though.

Leave him your contact details.

Then sit and re-assess how much the bike is really worth to you, write that figure down and sit back and wait.

It is highly likely an amount of time will pass and it won't sell on the site, and he will contact you, tail between the legs - offering you the bike at the original price. This is where you can then have the high horse...be aloof...point out the bad points on the bike, plus depreciation etc. and make him an offer, a much much lower one. Mr. Green

Fair enough. If you put some money into suspension bits for the ZZR it could be a really nice handling bike. Mine had really shagged suspension Razz

Urgh, tell me about it. eBay is full of listings for bikes that the owner doesn't really want to sell - all of mine came via Gumtree. This one sounds like a proper fantasist though.

Well, it's his loss, and if it's got a shagged gearbox, he's done you a favour by refusing your money. Whistle a happy tune and count your blessings.

Lucky...mine liked to scrape the centre stand with more than about 10 degrees of lean with the mrs on the back. Was ok with just me though...if a bit bouncy.

That's insane. I HATE the experience of selling anything that can't be posted to the buyer on eBay. There are so many time wasters on there it is unreal.

I had a guy who wanted me to end early without viewing the bike, who lived 180 miles away, had no transport to get here and based the entire purchase upon a few grainy photos that i took on my smart phone. He was shocked that I wouldn't waste my £20 listing by ending until he came to see the bike. I feel I was fair in saying first come, first served and if any viewers made me an offer before he got down that I could potentially sell to them. I also told him that if he came down on a certain day I would ensure I didn't arrange any other viewers on that day out of courtesy due to the distance he was traveling.

As it goes I sold the bike to someone the following day and as soon as the guy left my house I messaged him to say It's sold, sorry the sale didn't work out and good luck in finding a bike (I literally did say that). Then followed around 10 messages bombarding me with insults like 'fucking stupid prick' and 'last time i try to buy off a kid' 'get your daddy to sell things for you'. The best one was 'you have no business sense i wudda gid you 900 quid'. This amused me as I'd already told him i sold the bike for £1050 so I'm baffled how he came to that conclusion.

It seemed my original impression of him being a time wasting prick was correct though Thumbs Up

Another generic ebay rant?

We really should have a stickied thread people can just post in, in the 'give many fucks?' section.

I think you have missed a trick here sir

1) sweet talk the wife, get her permission.

2) get funds in cash, keep it somewhere safe

3) find a bike and go to see it

4) get the deal done on the spot, possibly for less money.

you would have the bike in your possession,
and you skin would not be boiling Confused

What was the price he wanted when you were there in person?
