My chain is a bit tired and whilst it is servicable for now, i know in a month or two i'm going to wamt to replace it. Looking on ebay chain and sprocket kits are cheaper than my previous bike. I was originally looking at the cheapest decent brand kit i could get, then i found a DID gold chain........

So, flash or gash on this?

I think it may look quite good....

They are.

Personally I like Tsubaki for some JDM cred. Razz Cool

It's a chain, it's not especially blingy or anything. Thumbs Up

(Just don't list it as a performance enhancing mod if you sell the bike on ebay, like some nobbers do.)

GOLD CHAIN = 7 moar hoarse powahhhhzzzz!!!11

Haha even more when used in conjunction with racing air filters (read open cone power zapping pieces of Chinese shit).

I just thought it would contrast with the colour (eucalaise silver don't you know? Who comes up with these names?) nicely. Its only a difference of 10 pounds, I just wonder how gold it will stay on my 180 miles a week!

Not on a bluey silvery bike without much gold already on it.

It is broadly equivalent to adding a purple powerband though so expect a ~5hp increase on an SV.

I don't think it will be too bad but I wouldn't be buying unless it was cheaper
initially it may stand out a bit too much, but unless you are anal about keeping the chain clean and only ride in the dry conditions a bit of dirt will bring the shine right down.

When my chain needed replacing I got a gold DID chain and I thought nothing of it. Have I missed something? Is it considered bling? I just bought it because it's a good quality chain.

Arn't the gold DID chains supposed to be their top of the range ones? twice as strong longer lasting etc, quite fancy one myself when its time for a change, think the gold will look good on a black bike, they do it in black and silver too. Link below for details.

In that case it seems like a no trainer for a few extra notes...
I always assumed it was just for tart.

They are awesome chains, won't stay bright and gold for long mind. After a bit of a bad experience with a cheapo chain on my ZZR I've always gone for the best quality chain I can. Always seems to have worked well for me thus far Thumbs Up

Gold is bling that you pay etra for, get the heaviest duty chain you can, usually just 'steel' colour. There seems to be, either a lot of cheap DID copies around or DID are reducing their quality control. Bought a DID chain, £80, wouldn't put it on a pushbile. Its in stock for the net 125 that needs one. RK seem to be far more robust and well made.
