Passed my A2 test on the 27th October, sent my licence back to said Government department via the examiner, who said that because I've already got a full car licence, he can 'fasttrack' my licence through the system and it will apparently be easier & quicker for them to upgrade it.

Or seemingly not, as I'm still waiting for it back, and it's been nearly 2 and a half weeks now. Has anyone else had problems with waiting this long for DVLA documentation?

2 and a half weeks would be exceptionally quick for them,.....unless they were sending you a Bill or a fine for not declaring SORN or something of course Mr. Green

Don't complain at less than 6 weeks. After all, do you need your licence to actually do anything? Unless you've been stopped by the cops of course!

When I pass my test on tuesday Wink Do I need to send off the full license to get valid insurance? So, does that mean, I wont be able to ride until I get the full license back from the DVLA before I can prove to the insurance company that I have a full license?

When (if Wink ) you pass, you'll get a test pass certificate, I'm sure that can be used as proof of a full licence.

No, you can ride straight away, the insurance company like you to do it asap, but "in the post" will do them for a month or so.

Good luck with the test! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up I may not be about next week much.

Excellent, cheers Very Happy

So, as soon as I get the pass certificate, its haggling time with CIA insurance....and then off home, ready for a nice cold motorway the next morning Very Happy

Still looking for a second hand set of restrictors though. If you hear of anyone taking theirs out, let me know if you can......for an er-5 obviously.

cheers Smile

The insurance company really won't care, either you have a full license or you don't. Your test pass certificate is valid for two years, it's better to send it off rather than forget about it and leave it till the last minute.

Mine took 2.5 weeks to come through, so their dealing with it don't worry! Thumbs Up There just a bit swamped with stuff so things often take a long time to come through.

Interestingly my Insurance company asked what type of licence i had, and thats it! :S They didnt ask if the bike was restricted or not (it isnt and should be), didnt ask to see my licence, MOT, etc :S
I could have lied like a bastard, be 14 without a liecence and still have got them to insure me on it! Laughing

Just hang in there its in the post! A Copy of your pass certificate or your driver number is enough for the police, at worst they will ask you to bring in your licence when you get it, but most coppers are fairly understandng that the DVLA like to take thier time Wink Thumbs Up

They really do not care unless you try to make a claim when they'll want to see the paperwork, probably not the restrictor paperwork, but until you try to make a claim all they're doing is selling you a peice of A4 paper, they really don't care if your insurance is valid or not as it's not their problem.
