My wrt54gs is maxed out....

... and I'm not getting my full speed over a wired connection.

My Cable broadband (60/3) is proving to be a bit beefy for my WRT54GS v5.1 / DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/31/12) micro - build 20453.

All speed tests show 40Mbps :/

I suppose I dont need a wifi router though as I can use the wrt as just an AP

Which wired router, preferably Linksys/Cisco, do you guys suggest I replace it with?

Need to be DDWRT compatible.

you could try one of the asus routers? they seem to be getting awesome reviews and they look pretty good too?

i think it comes with free dyndns from asus too if you run any servers that need a fixed address

i know you wanted just wired though Neutral

its supported by ddwrt too but they seem to have loads of features on the stock firmware

Not sure why you want it to specifically be DDWRT compatible, you may have good reasons. However, I'm a big fan of Mikrotik routers - you can get them here* Huge amount of documentation - You can use Winbox (windows applicatiion [works under wine]) or ssh in and use the command line. Syntax is Ciscoesque. Look at the 750G is you have gigabit or 750 is you don't, although I might consider a 450G. There's the 2011 too but the price is quite a bit higher. Starting to sound too much like an advert so I'll stop. Obviously throughput is dependant on queues, mangle rules etc.

If you're even moderately interested in networking they're really worth a look.

Cheers for the info peeps.

The Asus is deffo on the shopping list.

DDWRT is needed so that i dont really have to fuck about with the rest of my kit. Thumbs Up

theres a guy selling a linksys (cisco) 160n which is a cable router for 16 quid
