How do you know if you are gay?

Year 11 boy asked me this today and I was a bit pushed for an answer. I gave all the advice I could about legality due to his age and protection but how do you know if you is batty or not?

I was trying to avoid the obvious and showing him pictures of "bits" I asked him if he thought he was but he was unsure as he has boy and girl friends. I said just keep an open mind and do what feels right for him.

At that age you don't know. You need to be open minded, but be aware of your peers and their expectations. I think Homosexuality is more nurture than nature, not saying nature doesn't play a part, but if nature did then by definition Homosexuality wouldn't be genetic, well not amongst males.

to be honest when I was 11 I knew what girls were and liked them
but a boy in my class was a bit odd about girls
and all through school never had a girl friend, yes he is gay but if you met him you wouldn't know
he's not the stereotypical camp gay and I know a few of them as well not that I have any issue with them
they are just people I know

Thanks Skud, that is more or less what I was telling him. His faith was also an issue but I said if he was gay his creator had made him like that and would not have done so if it was wrong to be gay.

Nah, if you're gay you're born with it. Some people choose to be, become a ponce and use it as an excuse to be the exuberant person they couldn't be at school. I call them flouncy gays, and I don't believe they're truly gay at all. It's just an act, trying to give themselves a bit of individuality and all that, just because they didn't fit in with everyone else. I firmly believe that flouncy gays are mostly not gay, and their pseudo-gayness is entirely through nurture, because they aren't actually gay. However.

Real gays are really normal. I worked with a gay bloke and he was really normal. Also, myself and two other brothers had our youngest brother figured out as being gay since he was about 10, even though he didn't do anything stereotypically gay - we just knew. He told my mum when he was 15 or something, then told me when he was 16. He was pleased to hear that me and our other brothers already had him figured anyway. I asked him again recently, now that he's had time to, erm, think, and he's still gay. He's not a flouncy queer cunt at all though. It's what I call a 'manly gay' . No, seriously, real gays are just normal people who happen to be wired to have an interest in males.

If that lad fears he's gay, he probably is, and it'll be something to do with how most people get a growing interest in girls, boobies, and porn, whereas he seems to be finding boys more and more handsome.

One of the wifes kids proudly announced that she was gay.... no bi.... no gay.... no bi.... definitely gay.... OK the rest of the girls in the class are bi so I am too.... and she was 12.... and has had a string of girlfriends since (14 soon). I think hormone levels have a lot to do with it.... and could be a 'phase' for some people.... just guessing though
