I've an xda stellar which has been returned to factory settings and i'm trying to re install google maps/latitude on it but i have to visit the url m.google.co.uk/maps and when i try the phone ignores the M and redirects to the desktop version of the site.

Any suggestions on getting it to see it as the mobile site, then the software will download.

In the browser settings is there option to change what the browser reports to the website as?

Could try downloading Opera Mini or Skyfire for it. Pretty sure they have the redirection to mobile site feature on them.

I used to hate IE when I had that phone.

Is it just for using maps? Would it not be easier to find say... a download of TomTom Navigator... I didn't use this on my XDA Mini S and it didn't work

Opera mini doesn't have the option i could find and skyfire appears to be a pos. won't connet to internet, help files are on the internet and so are advanced setting options

I will get there eventually. It has had maps installed before.

At the bottom of Google.co.uk there should be a toggle to switch between classic and mobile. That should sort you out.

It's not there because google doesn't see it as a mobile.
