No1 son turned 18 yesterday and got his first bike tattoo.

Back in about 3 weeks for a bit more shading once he's stopped crying.

You must be very proud.

I tell my kids that getting a tattoo is like getting platform disco shoes permanently attached to your feet. Either I've persuaded them of the folly of making fad-driven permanent body modifications or they are wusses...

Why does the perspective subtly change halfway down the helmet?

And is that meant to be a piston sticking ot the top? It'll need replacing, it's warped to f*ck...

Its a bit hard to get a good photo of it, it looks to be in the correct perspective when you see it for real. He's still go to get it finished off so there's a fair amount of shading to add.

Lets face it, if I'd have said absolutely no way then he'd have gone off and had any old crap just out of principle. At least this way I could make sure it was done in the safety of a proper tattoo studio and was somewhere that was out of sight when he was at work.

I don't mind tattoos. Even though my dad brought me up banging on about how tattoos are stupid and religious rubbish. My comeback was always "You have kids before marriage" he would just look at me.

Dad's who do that are forcing their beliefs onto their kids in my opinion.

The only tattoos I despise are the ones saying their girlfriend/boyfriends name. And the "MUM" or "DAD" tattoos. It doesn't display your "love" for them. In fact, most people I've met with them were nasty to their parents when they were alive.

Not the easiest place to have your first tattoo... The upper arm would have been less painful. But fair plays to him.

Not the most fantastic bit of work, should have easily withstood more in one sitting

however I am somewhat biased as the mrs is a tattooist

Not that I've ever had any tattoos or anything Rolling Eyes but my first was on the top of my arm, and I hardly felt a thing.... anywhere there is fat, muscle or anything else other than tendon or bone isn't very painful for tattoos. I felt slightly ripped off when I had my first done because my tattooist always says you are paying for the pain... the tattoo is free Wink

Second tattoo I had done was on my shin... I had one done on my right forearm that took over 5 1/2 hours in 1 sitting and the only one that I can say stung a little was having stars on my left inner arm, but that was just when he was going over the tendons.

I don't know if all tattooists will do it, but mine has a shop freebie tattoo (if you are having one done), allegedly the most painful tattoo you can get.... a smiley face on the end of your toe

I personally find most quite unappealing... I definitely wouldn't get a bike related one. Neutral

He's had a hell of an accident, hence the piston being driven through the top of his head.

If he likes it. Fair enough.

If he still likes it years down the line. Good for him. Thumbs Up

I don't personally like it, but I also don't like Indian food. You probably don't give a sh!t about that either.
