Went to get a courtesy bike as mine is being fixed under warranty. Lady on the phone said it was a yamaha YZF 125, great, I thought, should be interesting to ride. Turns out its a Yamaha cygnus X scooter. I've never ridden a scooter in my life, many motorbikes, never a scooter. Where is the appeal! 10 miles of dual carriageway, awful. Although in town it was actually quite fun and nippy, it's an odd little thing.

Anyway my question. How on earth do I get into the underseat storage? No locks or holes anywhere around the seat, I rang dealer to ask them, they said google it as they don't know either... I literally can't see any way in.

Should be a key hole on the left hand side I imagine, otherwise it may not be so easily accessible and might need a spanner!

Yep, fucking courtesy scooter, insurance put me on one too, threw it straight down the road within 20 minutes, luckily they didn't notice when I gave it them back

Is the Cygnus the one with the weird square bit on the key? If so there's a square hole next to the key hole on the ignition that you turn with the square bit on the key.

If yours is a geared bike then they should provide a geared bike. Id rather walk than get on a scooter/Moped!!

Great when youre 18and on holiday where nobody knows you but the embarrasment of riding up my road and parking outside my house would be enough to make me hand the keys back.

I always like to try something different as a courtesy ride

for example, when my fazer thousand was in for a service, I turned down an R1 and took an MT-03 instead.

I took my mum's Piaggio something down for its MOT once, as she was ill, and every time I cornered it felt like I was falling through the gap between the seat and the bars. Very odd and quite horrible.

apparently you turn the ignition key anticlockwise and there is a bit before the steering lock that should open the seat
