I've had both from launch date, my PS3 is only used for watching blu rays other than that it just collects dust. Xbox is much better Wink

Can get a decent bluray player for around the £50 mark these days, some times cheaper. Personally I wouldn't bother switching, they are meant to be announcing new consoles this year.

What makes it better, the fact that you have to pay the same price of a brand new xbox game every year to play online, or the fact that it isnt a Bluray player? Rolling Eyes

My PS3 broke after a solid 6 years use, so now i have to use my Xbox. But as soon as the 12gb PS3 drops back down to £120 ill be picking one up in no time

Don't buy either. New systems could well be out by the end of the year if you believe the rumours.

£35 a year is hardly breaking the bank is it? Laughing

Don't get me wrong, the PS3 is a good blu ray player, but I hate playing games on it, its slow & painful. Loading times are crap, you have to install most games before you can play them, you can't listen to your own music whilst playing most games, it takes forever to download and install updates etc etc.

Each to their own huh.....

Keep the xbox. Just keep an eye out for deals and sites offering cheap gold. Ive yet to pay more than £20 for the year for a much superior online service

Never had the issues you describe on a PS3. Except installs, which are useful, I.e. LA Noire is all on one disc on PS3, its on FOUR on the xbox, talk about a ball ache.

3 discs. The four discs are only found in the Complete Edition which includes the DLC.

Disc 1: Patrol/Traffic cases
Disc 2: Homicide cases
Disc 3: Vice cases
Disc 4: Arson cases

With the DLC missions going onto the relevant disc.

Yes, announcing, not releasing. Laughing

They always announce the consoles a year or two(+) before release. It's like games, they announce them way before release, marketing. Wink

Like when Microsoft announced the 360 in May 2005 and then launched in October of the same year. Wink

If nothing is announced by or at E3, I'll be very sceptical we'll see anything this year. Feels like Sony and Microsoft are keeping their cards closer to their chest than ever before with regards to keeping their new consoles specs under wraps.

When they announce a console, it's usually released soon after, otherwise the sales of the current console would drop as people would just wait it out.

Not necessarily, Sony has a wonderful habit of announcing consoles 12 months in advance of release.

Must have confused it with Mafia 2 or something. Oh and Max Payne 3. Ps3 is much easier

I have both. 2 Xbox 360s and 1 PS3

I like both, technically I find the PS3 more useful as the online is free and you can copy movies and mp3s to the hard drive.

Some very good games on the 360 though.

Best graphics goes to Uncharted on the PS3.

Best game hmmmmmm Reach or Uncharted...........

Get a PS3 because literally everything about it is on par or better than a 360. I'd get rid of my 360 because I actually loathe it but I like to play N64 remakes on it from time to time.

Rumour is Sony and MS are both going to make announcements before E3 and then use E3 to show off the launch titles.

Rather than rant about which console is better, I'll offer my personal opinion;

I have both consoles, and much prefer my xbox. My PS3 is a glorified media server and Blu Ray player. In all honesty, it comes down to the controller more than anything. As I have big fat bear paws instead of hands, the PS3 controller feels far too small and flimsy for me.

If a game comes out for both platforms, I'll go for the Xbox version every time. That being said, there are certain PS3 exclusives that are well worth playing, such as the Uncharted games.

As for Xbox Live vs PSN, you definitely get what you pay for. Yes, the PSN is free with the optional PS+ paid subscription, but Live is the far superior online service. You get better connections and the voice chat beats the PSN hands down with cross-game chat if that's your thing.

However, as I'm sure the OP knows, Xbox live is COVERED in adverts, which is a little irritating as I've paid for the service...

It really does boil down to a case of each to their own. OP, if you want to give a PS3 a try, then do it. I'd recommend saving up for it, rather than selling your Xbox to pay for it. You'll get bugger all for it on trade in anyway.

Have fun whatever you decide to do.
