So I got a Contour Roam2 for my birthday and I have an iPad. I also have the little Apple SD card adaptor thingy and, brilliantly, I can throw video from the camera directly into the folder on the iPad and view it with no problem.

However, I'd quite like to be able to edit the videos on the iPad before uploading directly to YouTube or similar so can anyone recommend either a free or paid app to allow editing of video, addition of audio tracks (if required) and uploading to social media sites?

An iPad doesn't really have the processing power for anything but the most rudimentary of video editing. Anything involving actual transcoding rather than splicing of data streams would take ages, murder battery and depending how warm the room is, cause the iPad to pop up its overheating warning:

It would be a long long way down my preference-ordered list of machinery for that. YMMV.

Simple cut and paste splicing is all I need, for now at least. Changing the audio would be nice and uploading a bonus.

Is iMovie any good?

Not used it on an iPad but it's good on a Mac. Would expect it to be similar. Edited my wedding video on it easily, put in bits of music and some transitions etc.
