Was browsing on the DSA site earlier and found a mock theory test. Decided to have a go (only 8months until 17) I managed to pass first time, with no cramming or anything. If I can pass, that means any half-wit who can remember things but has no common sense etc can pass. I find that a bit scary. I know it was only a mock, not under exam conditions etc, but it could explain why there are so many bad road users around. (Did try the car test as well, but failed the 1st time round)

https://www.dsa.gov.uk/ (got to theory tests then mock theory test on the left then you have a whole load of 'em to try.)

Found that a bit of a shock!

Pete.

I did the first test and got 31, I made some silly mistakes, still got 5 months before I am 17 though, so plenty of time for revision! Laughing

Problem is it like who wants to be a millionaire. easy to answer the questions when at home but your mind goes blank in the studio.

Nerves usually get the better of some.

And in the proper exam you will not be so lucky and you will get questions, such as braking distances, which you have to know. Some questions you cannot blag, you just have to know them.

Its quite easy to fail this way, if you haven't prepared.

Mock tests are getting harder and harder each year. I would take it seriously.. you dont want to fail when you take it for real cos you were blaise about it. Confused

35 out of 35 on the bike one first time round, and 33 out of 35 on the car one (well I haven't owned a car for 3 years!). So I guess I can put my copy of the highway code away again Cool

I did next to no revision for my theory test and got 33/35. I did consider myself quite up to scratch on things like that after many discussions with my dad's friend who seems to have memorised every road handbook there is!

My revision consisted of learning braking distances, and getting me dad to ask me random questions from the book!

Don't forget theres hazard perception now as well!
