Hi Y'All

Ok, here is the thing, Just got a DR125SM, which was apparently running fine prior to being laid up for the winter back in October 2012.

Now it is electrically dead, with no lights at all, despite having a nicely newly charged battery.

Have checked the main fuse by the battery and that is fine.

When you try to bump start, the lights (front and rear) come on dimly, but it does not fire at all.

Is there anyone who knows of any simple fault which might cause this problem as I am a little bit lost with this one (new bike and all that).

There is plenty of fuel in it and was apparently running earlier today before I picked it up.

Plus side is that got it for a bargain Smile

Thanks in advance for any advice and help offered.

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike,

the battery on the bike, is it a new battery, or the one that came with it?

Are you getting a neutral light when you turn her on/spark from plug etc?

Tbh, sounds like a flat battery problem; are you able to put a voltmeter across the terminals? May be that the battery is dead and won't hold a charge. Other than that, try locating your wiring harness earth wires and make sure they're really clean.

Well that was easy.
Thanks for the reply.

Battery is a known good one and even tried on a direct jump start from a car battery, but nothing.

Checked all of the wiring and ancilliaries i could see without stripping the whole lot of panels and seat off and all looked good.

Not got the time to do this right now, so took it to the local Bike shop (Lamos in Llandissilio) and they did have the time to do all that and found that a lead in the loom, hidden under all of the guff had come undone.

Private purchase price of bike, fault find, fix and a general check over of the bike by Laoms, still came out nearly £400 less than an E-Bay bike, Result.

Cheers

Mike

Hi,

Sorry to reopen an old thread on my first post. I've got the exact same issue on the same bike. Oddly enough the guy I bought the bike off, got it from Lamos in Llandissiilo.

Do you know more specifically what area this loose wire was so I can have a look for it?

Cheers,

Oliver.
