Right, first off i am not a biker. Nope, not in the slightest.. However, my parents are. Its there 50th birthday's this year and I (there daughter) am wanting to send them away somewhere on the bike for 4-5 nights. The thing is I have NO idea where to send them. Basically this is a cry for help, I need some advice on some good routes that you can get to via ferry ( Ireland, possibly?)

Please reply because I have absoloutly no clue.

Thanks Laughing

Sorry, are you asking to suggest a route that they ride on their bike(s). If so from where are they setting off?

Or, are you asking for package holidays that include motorcycle hire?

...and if you get them a ferry/accomodation to somewhere they don't particularly want to go????
You can't do a surprise/spur of the moment thing because they have to get the bike and themselves sorted for a road trip, why not just ask so they end up going to somewhere they fancy going

Google is your friend, try "motorcycle touring holidays", seems to be a few firms out there.

I hope you aren't one of my kids (I turn 50 this year and am planning a bike trip). If so, I'm already planning one! Save your money!

Assuming you're not, there are a few sites offering guided and self-guided tours. Here's one with some nice Wales and Yorkshire Dale tours and here's another, specifically for Ireland.

Good luck!

When.

That's the crucial part. Like fuck does a 50 year old want to be sat in thermals freezing his winky off because he doesn't want to upset his daughter Wink

I know if my parents said "We are going to send you away on your bike for a few days" I'd tell them to aim for around summer Laughing

INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR MEANINGFUL ANSWER.

Where are they based?

What's the furthest that they normally ride?

Do they want to go on a tour? Is it something that they do, or that they've talked about?

Do they have plenty of luggage (panniers, tank bag, top box) already? If not, and if they're planning a trip, have you considered buying them some decent luggage instead, and letting them handle the trip?

Are you just looking to book a ferry, or are you intending to book accommodation for them as well? I ask because travelling on someone else's itinerary might not be to their taste.

Why aren't you into biking? What's wrong with you?

Wow, thanks for the great response.

Right, i am sending them to Ireland. I'm thinking the 'Causeway costal Route' Sounding good?.. As they live in perthshire its quite a treck to get to the ferry at Cairngan so now my biggest problem is finding accomidation that is within 50 miles of Belfast..

As they are getting on a bit and dad gets like supppper cold hands I think there limit of 200 miles a day would be good.

Thanks again Laughing
