That's right, as I expected... the GPz failed its MOT today and this has a part to play in it:

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v320/andy36586/GPz750/Nutsandbolts.jpg

The bike was more or less back together and I had this many nuts and bolts left over... I knew at least 1 would be important. The extensive fail and advisory sheet is as follows:

001 Rear suspension has an inadequate repair of a load bearing member or its supporting structure [2.4.A.2d]

002 Headlamp aim too high [1.6]

Advisory items
003 Front brake feels spongy

I'd forgot to put the bolts back in the lower engine mounts and the headlight had been positioned too close to the ignition barrel so couldn't be positioned correctly... the front brakes... I really must look at them again TBH

£5 from a local bike garage and the bolts had been replaced and headlight moved down slightly... back to the MOT station 10 minutes later and it passed with the single advisory.

So from this:

To this:

Without a clue what I was doing and I missed 2 important bolts

Exactly... who needs chains, disc locks, immobiliser, alarms etc.... I bet I could leave the keys in the ignition for days and it would never be touched Very Happy

Rear suspension is a common failure as it's possible to rebuild it in its entirety and still end up with quite a lot of play in the rear. I guess it might have been drawing at a replacement bushings/bearings job in the past?

I've got 1 arm shorter than the other.... comfortable for me Wink

I think it's just the angle the photo was taken at, although the guy I bought the bolts from did comment about the handlebars passing the MOT like that Confused I can't see it myself. Only uncomfortable thing about the bike (OK things, which one needs addressing), is I've trapped a nerve in my lower back which means I can't stay in a sitting position for more than a few minutes at a time.... and every time I went over a bump the suspension feels a little stiff (or it actually felt like no suspension at all to be honest).

Looks like you have a Nexxus exhaust also, I have a quick question, is that something you need to tell insurance about? Mine came with a black Nexxus exhaust on it and the previous owner didn't know.

Your rear seems a little low also...?

I knew I'd put a project thread up for this:
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=245565

Benno, to be honest I thought that was the standard exhaust so never said anything to the insurance company, don't think I will either as the excess is more than the value of the bike so I have to be very careful on it anyway.

i.p.phrealy, I'm still not sure about the look of the bike... just something I don't like about it... but I'm sure when I get it on the road properly I'll forget all that.

Zero, thanks, wasn't as difficult as I thought.

iMark, the subframe probably is slack, it mentioned something about treadlock in the manual... so I didn't bother putting WD40 on those bits... I'll let rust do the rest.

james1988, last time I checked I needed both hands to pee.... well not really, I only need 1 hand and still piss on 3 fingers.

daffy, I'm lefty or righty.... Jill on one side... Pam on the other.... sometimes have threesomes too Twisted Evil

Eddie Hitler, Thanks Very Happy

Just want to say a bit thanks to everyone for the.... kind?.. words Razz

Handlebars are too far forwards. Slacken off and bring back a few inches.

Other than that, it looks good mate. Thumbs Up

Did you rebuild the brake master cylinder? I recall the brakes on my GPz750R being pretty sharp.
