So there are a few young lads, round my way with mopeds,
the noise drives me insane, it also, sets the dog off, which sets the kids off, which sets my gf off, its not good,

long story short, i had a chat with these fine young men, to kind of see what was going on, i may have mentioned something about them making a hell of a lot of noise, for such slow machines.
i was then informed that they are noisey because they are de restricted,
one of these gentleman then said, (in his own words) my bike is well fast mate, it would lick your cbr 600 in a race to 50, ill bet a grand on it.
on that note, i said good bye, walked back indoors, where i
proceeded to laugh, and laugh.

What on earth are these kids smoking, now days, because i want some.

original intentions were to maybe get the lads to stop driving by my house so much, that has backfired, if anything they drive past more, probably, to talk more crap to me,

any ideas how to get rid of them?
what would BCF do?

I think a well aimed steel pole through their front wheels a few times will discourage them from riding that way in future

I find there's nothing more infuriating than someone doing something annoying that I'd be a hypocrite to complain about. Evil or Very Mad

They might beat your CBR to 15 if you don't launch right, but certainly not 50.

My experience of kids is that it's usually best to ignore them when you can. The more their actions cause you to change your behaviour in ways they can see, the more control they have. It doesn't matter what your actions are, short of murder.

I love 2 strokes and even 50cc sporty scooters! Embarassed
I bet they all have a really cheap and nasty aftermarket race type exhaust fitted, and that's why they are so high pitched and tinny.

You can get decently silenced race pipes for most scooters, but the problem is that they have probably got crap exhausts in a crappy condition. The silencers on some of these pipes are re-buildable, and it makes a fair bit of difference when a silencer is correctly packed with new material.

I made my old Speedfight100 exhaust much quieter when I sorted out the leaky joints at the silencer and re-built the can with new wool material. It was still a very shit machine though, but I had to make it quiet as I could, as id attracted the local 50cc crew and been raced a few times, and the 100cc Pug could barely beat some of the tuned 50's, and I sat neck and neck up to 45mph with a Piaggio NRG once, which was too embarrassing to think about.

Must have been my biggest biking Noob moment, to have a 100cc scooter covered in Malossi sticker's and a noisy expansion pipe, big open carb and other tuning work, and still be no faster than a 50cc with a race pipe. Rolling Eyes

Very similar story here.... picture the scene, Snowie & I in the living room, dog, whining pacing the room, tortured wasp in a PA system going up the street.
Snowie: It's 'im again... can I go road-rash him.
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: No Dear.
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Please
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: No, he's only young, and dumm.
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: But I want to rash him!
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: I know dear.
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: So what can we do?
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: I dont know dear.
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Do you think I could run along side and stuff socks up his exhaust?
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: Run?
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Well, walk along side?
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: No, they'd only fall out.
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Its getting louder.
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: Yes, guess he must almost be at next doors by now... give him a minute he'll be at the end of our drive.
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
(Note: I live in a terrace, NOT a mansion. There's 'Just' enough road between mine and next doors to park a medium sized estate car!)
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Can I run out and bash him with a broom?
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: Maybe... you have plenty of time to find one..... maybe even make one.
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Look! He's outside!
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me. Oh yes... isn't that exhaust shiney!
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Can I hit him over the head with a spanner?
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: He's wearing a helmet. Look. It isn't done up.
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Can I go out and walk along side, do it up for him..... REALLY tight?!
Ped: NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: You could, but if he took his hand of the twist grip, he'd loose what little speed he's got to get him up the hill, and he'd be here for ever.
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Hill?
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: Yes, dear, you may have noticed it's not very steep, admitedly, but each block of four houses is about one course of bricks lower than the next.
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Oh. Yeah.
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Do you think he'll ever get up it?
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: eventually
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: It IS taking him a long time. Do you think he's had to stop for the bus?
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: be good if he has, maybe he'll get n it.
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: This is really pissing me off now!
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: He must be half way to the junction by now, look, dogs lay back down
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie:- There there Bear. Poor Dawhie, does the chavvy scooter hurt your sensitive ears? ... etc.....more gooie stuff to dog
NEEEEEEEeeeeee...... phut-phut-phut
Snowie: He's STOPPED!
phut-phut-phut-phut-phut-phut-phut[
Me: Must have made it to the end of the street! Quick, tell the guiness book of records!
phut-phut-phut-phut-NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: Oh, he's pulled out of the junction
NEEEEEEEeeeeee...... phut-phut-phut
Me: Oh... slowed down again, must have turned into Wycliff. Probably going to the one stop.
phut-phut-phut-phut-NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Or going round the block. PLEASE dont be going round the block!
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Me: no he's getting quieter.... he's going away from us!
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Snowie: Are you sure?........ maybe.... its a BIT quieter.
[b]NEEEEEEEeeeeee...... phut-phut-phut..........
Snowie: He's gone quiet. Has he gone away? Has he crashed, do you think?
.......earily no neeeeeeee niose.......
Me: No. He's stopped at the one-stop.
.......earily no neeeeeeee niose.......
Snowie: Thank gawd for that.
.......earily no neeeeeeee niose.......
Me: He'll be back. It's OK, he'll have the hill helping him coming teh other way. We might only have to put up with it long enough for me to write one of my AVERAGE sized posts......

I wonder whether to offer 'help' in his 50-tuning, and explain how to take the exhaust off and 'port' the barel using a hand file through the exhaust port.... make it WIDER kid, make it a lot WIDER.... MaHooosive more power, mate, MaHoosive!

Then just wait for the rings to pop into it!

I live on a main road and get a moped pass every weekday at 4 to 4.30am Laughing
It's not as bad as it sounds as I'm used to the constant traffic noise (lived here since I was born). I'm immune to pretty much everything except for him. Most nights I just stir and doze off again within seconds, bet some of my neighbours aren't happy though.
