Nobody has bought it yet, it's just an overly optimistic seller

It's not though, there's 12 bidders and the highest is at over a grand, meaning he's obliged to buy it if he wins the auction

Is it secretly worth something because it's just a heap of fucked up metal
Ask the seller if it comes with a new MOT Wink

Well it's certainly a rare bike, and the VIN alone is worth something. In fact, the rest of it's so far gone that I'm thinking the VIN alone is all people are bidding for...

Indeed.

These people are asking £8k for a similar age bike with a 'full nut and bolt restoration' - so for a burnt out wreck, that may well cost similar (basically, building a new bike.)

A 1961 actually sold for £4.5k on ebay.

Not up on them at all, obviously some models can be worth loads more than others because they are from two years either side, rare engine capacity etc.

I like it,
most of that damage will probably buff straight off,
just need a couple of new tyres, and a few bits of chrome,
this little puppy, will be in my garage by the end of the week
