Fitting fall guards

I have a CBF 125 and a pair of basic fall guards. They're just plastic cylinders that I need to bolt on some where on the bike.
So, any suggestions?
I haven't taken off the side panels, so I don't even know if I could but, would fitting them to the frame effect the strength of the frame (greatly) ?

that's basically them. They didn't come with the white spacers though. Could probably get the welder in work to make something up.
I was thinking of having them higher to protect the fairings and indicators but, I suppose the engine is more important

crash protectors you mean??

normally they'd bolt onto the engine mountings. in some cases replacing the original engine mount bolts. also in some cases you might have to drill a hole in the fairing for the protector to fit through.

would really need pics as i've never heard the phrase 'fall guards' before so just guessing

I'm not sure if they were call fall guards or crash protectors... they would do nothing in a crash however.

Bolting onto a plastic fairing is a bad idea!

Also, qb78 posted a picture of them (close enough)

Crash bungs

I have no idea how you'd fit them to the frame itself, seems to go on the mounting bolts as been said

I probably wouldn't want to weld them on, thought it'd probably be better if you crashed and they were welded and just broke off rather than snapping a bolt into the thread, maybe

Crash protectors, crash bungs, mushrooms, etc. Nobody said anything about bolting anything to fairings.

The do do something in a crash, I can attest to that. They reduce damage in a lowside slide and potentially eliminate damage to fairing in a drop from standstill.

On a naked bike engine bars or even an engine cage like on stunt bikes are a better option.

There are lots of commercial offerings, shouldn't be necessary to bodge things with a welder.

They are normally designed to give way a bit, to avoid passing on damage to whatever they are attached to.
