There's a few cracks (two or three inches) in the top drivers side corner of my windscreen, definitely a MOT fail, so I'm looking for the cheapest way to replace the screen. Autoglass and the like are quoting around four hundred quid Shocked

So anywhere in the North London/Enfield area worth a look?

... and no I don't have windscreen cover on the insurance Sad

Take out a new insurance policy with windscreen cover on it? Or see how much it would cost to add it?

The Admin fees + Excess would most likely still be less than you would have to pay for the screen outright.

Shop around. I broke the screen on my 525i on a TPFT policy so I had to cover it myself. I rang up a couple of places for quotes who came in at 4-500 quid. The third one said something like £450 but then realised I'd be paying for it myself rather than doing it through my insurance company, and the cost mysteriously came down to £150.

IIRC anything over 40mm is a failure, wherever it is on the screen.

Its 10mm zone a drivers side and 40mm in remaining swept area.
You can have a foot long crack in a certain area and still pass the mot... depends if its in the swept area or not, thats why I wanted a picture to see. Mr. Green

Ah, my bad, I thought if it was over 40mm anywhere. Is there nothing about structural integrity? A windscreen with 3 or 4 3" cracks can be very structurally sound.
