They shouldn't shock you if you touch them with your fingers whilst the engine is running, right?

I'm convinced that they shouldn't. Mine don't if I touch them. However my friend has been told by someone who works for the AA that it's completely normal, as my mates ones do. I think he's wrong. Can anyone clarify?

No, you shouldn't get a shock from touching the lead or cap.

Maybe if they are wet but shouldn't otherwise.

Just as I thought.

My mate ordered a new HT Lead for his bike as I told him to replace it (his shocks you on touch and his bike is running poorly, I believe this is the issue).

The one that arrived didn't fit and he broke down again the other night and called out the AA. They said that the HT Lead wasn't an issue and that it was a blocked jet. We cleaned and inspected the carbs last weekend... they're fine. A blocked jet also doesn't correspond with the intermittent issues that he's having...

Cheers guys Thumbs Up

Yep. If it's leaking badly enough to give a shock then the spark isn't getting all it needs. Thumbs Up

Yeah, exactly what I thought. It also explains why it's worse in the rain; the water increases conductivity.

Now to try and figure out if we can actually fit this HT lead/solenoid that he has received.
