Hey everyone, I finally got my Arai helmet. It's a Haga replica, I like him a lot. Bought it for 680$ but in the country I'm in you don't find any bike shops.Anyone else wears Arai, maybe you could tell me how to clean it. And what's up with the silicon lubricant thing Embarassed ?

Got a plain black one, Feckin noisy bastards, earplugs a must, but the quality Oh the quality...... Embarassed They are also nice and cool in the summer.

The silicon lube is for the rubber surround where it meets the visor and makes a water proof seal, its to stop the rubber perishing after time.

Laughing Where I am it's always summer so that's a good thing. You know Dubai, Middle East Very Happy . The guy at the store told me the same thing about the ear plugs, I think it's better to wear earplugs and get a nice air flow than not wearing them and ending up with a puddle of sweat dropping from my head Mr. Green . Thanks for the info about the lubricant Thumbs Up .

Same here. I thought it might just be me, since i have a fairly narrow face, but maybe it's a "feature" Smile

Time to start swiping lots of earplugs from work Thumbs Up

Reserving judgement on whether it was a good buy or not. I personally would never spend that much on a helmet...

...though, maybe on a full outfit! Thumbs Up Very Happy

Sick Embarassed Sad I love Suzuki, I intend to buy one in the future and i did think of buying suzuki gear. Went to the dealer but they didn't have the mat mladin suit that you lucky monkey bought Laughing ! The helmet looks amazing and since mat is my favourite rider I would buy the suit. I thought about it, but... riding a kawasaki with suzuki printed on the leathers isn't something that I like. I don't want people laughing at me Sad . About the tint I wanted to buy a blue visor the reflecting type Thumbs Up if not then I'll just settle for a medium black tint Mr. Green .

Oh we've had this argument so many times.

Any helmet with the appropriate safety markings has passed the tests required of it. The price starts going up as the weight starts coming down, the fit and finish gets better, the brand name allows it to and the fancy paintjob adds some.

My £200 Shoei is lighter, quieter, has a cleverer visor removal system and is thus a 'better' helmet than my £100 Vemar. But I honestly don't expect it to protect me any better in the event of a crash.

Sorry, but it's talk like that that gets newbies bankrupting themselves to buy a £400 Arai instead of a £70 Shark, both of which (if they fit correctly) will do the same job - keep your brains in your head and off the road.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the jeans are they specially designed for bike use so if you fall of or something because I would like to get something of that sort to wear when I get a bike.

If anyone’s got them are they reasonably comfortable and warm when riding?

I use a pair of Draggin' Jeans (I've heard Hood Jeans are nicer). They're noticably thicker than your average jean and they have the kevlar inside. If you turn them inside out it looks like you have yellow shorts stitched to the inside of your jeans. You can attach armour with velcro. I can comfortably walk around in them all day and they do cut the wind down a bit. I probably wouldn't like to tour the country in them, but they are fine for the odd day out. Nice and cool in summer. Top job! Thumbs Up

Um guys, my dad just hit me with a very nice question right after I bought the earplugs" will you be able to hear the horns of cars?" Laughing well will I? Sick .

Bendy you know you do have a point about the noobs and buying an Arai and all that. Trust me I would have bought a Shoei or something cheaper but I'm in Dubai, and they only have 2 places with good bike knowledge and gear and they didn't have anything but Arai for road bikes Thumbs Down .

I just got myself an Arai Astro J at the bike show.

At the end of the day it fit me the best when on and I tried so many my head ached (though its a bit of a bugger to get off till it beds in.. I hope) It also helped that its been replaced with the R and so was £150 off the RRP (and £50 off what anywhere I can find outside the show Very Happy ).

First trip out in it today and it quite amazing the difference between a really good fitting helmet and my first helmet that I bought it. It felt good at first but but I soon realised was a bit too big and after less than 6 months I can almost turn my head a 1/4 turn inside the helmet !

Man has it got a lot of vents to play with
AGV demon = 1 in the face
Arai Astro = 1 face, 2 visor and 2 on the top and a toggle switch thingy to hold the visor in a de-mist mode !
