Yeah but I expect the insurance on the zxr600 to be a LOT more than a bandit, at least 1200 I would have a thought..

No, online quotes generally are crap and always give a stupidly high price. If you want to get your insurance cheap then you need to use the 'phone. Online quotes are only any good for comparing insurance costs for different bikes.

At 17 I got TPFT insurance for just over £1k on a ZX6R J2 2001 with Datatool alarm, with 0 NCB and in good area.

Brand new GSXR600 (£5999) in a nice area, datatagged/alarmed 2 years NCB no previous points/claims, 18 years old.
The initial ring around only got me down to £1800, a brand new Daytona 600 (620?) was a good £300 cheaper on insurance, these were quotes on brand new bikes though.
That was all TPFT.

I'd say your going to be looking at between £1000-£1400 TPFT on a 600.

Yeah but bear in mind the difference in insurance prices between 17 and 21 is a hell of a lot, if you were 17 I'd estimate you'd be paying double that.

Yh I had the katana for about a month and it was just so boring sitting there twisting a throttle, now i've got the rs50 with the exeption of power its just like a real bike, but still on big hill im only getting 60 ish with the engine screaming.

Well hopefully i will have saved £3k by the time im 17 I think the test will come to 3-400 as the rs50 has taught me all about gears etc i always do my lifesavers check mirrors stay in the right lanes, so im not really sure what else theyll be teaching.

then ill be looking for a new ish zx 600 r possibly cosmetic damaged one for around £2800 then hopefully the good old bank of mum and dad will give me a bit of a loan for insurance hopefully it will be under £1200

I'm in the process of gathering online quotes for 125's right now, Bennetts seem to give a ridiculous amount for a quote, I hope their prices are much cheaper over the phone. I will ring around pretty much everywhere.

Does anybody recommend going through a broker? Smile

Brokers seem to be quite good, Bennetts are expensive full stop from what I can tell. You should know from all the other insurance posts what to do by now as far as ringing round to get the cheapest deal.

I am through a broker which is very good. Paying considerably less than most other companies and 600 less than Bennets were after.

Pretty much all insurance is done through insurance brokers, the actual insurance companies like AXA will not deal with you direct, it has to be through a broker. Bennets are an insurance broker.

bennetts was very expensive for me.

They quoted me in the £400 price range, I eventually paid £233 via motorcycledirect.com

I was forced to phone motorcycledirect because my bike wasn't listed on their website.
