				| If you failed to put fuel in your bike, would you blame the engine for stopping?
Fix your charging system, you chump.

				| I had problems with my charging system that ate batteries, a new reg/rec helped but the alternator was still putting out less voltage than it should (12.8v at revs), checked the alternator resistances as per Haynes and not right, been meaning to fix. Most batteries would hate this but motobatt has been happy day to day with this for the last 4 or 5 months, imo its such a good battery it can cover over charging system problems unless they are really bad, all the tests show it copes well with undercharging/deep discharging etc. I stick the battery on a charger every now and then to give it a full charge, but its never let me down
When your new battery dies please come back and apologise to the poor motobatt, for you were expecting too much asking for power from a battery, when your bike wasn't charging said battery, thanks

Hope you kept the motobatt as chances are after a good charge it'll be good as new

				| I take it you've checked the voltage across the battery when the bike's revving to make sure it's correct (IIRC about 13.5v+ at about 5,000rpm held steady)
Much lower = charging system problem

And please don't say you don't have a multimeter to do this
Because ain't noone gunna tell me they know what they're talking about when they don't even own a multimeter/voltmeter

I strongly suggest you check again. Batteries don't just work fine one minute then discharge the next. I suspect your charging system has either died or is on its way out.

The symptoms you describe sound exactly like what happened to my Street Triple when the Regulator Rectifier fried itself. It did charge the battery a little, but not enough to prevent it from dying eventually.

Sickpup's responses to this sort of thread are always terse and unhelpful. He rarely elaborates on his thoughts in his first post, and most of the time has to be encouraged to actually tell you what he's thinking rather than effectively calling you stupid. This isn't the best way to conduct oneself on the forum, but actually he's right; I don't think the problem is with the battery, it's with the charging system.

If Sickpup actually was helpful instead of trying to insult people, he could be one of the most helpful members of the forum, knowing how evidently knowledgeable he is on general biking matters.

				| ^^^Agree about reg/recs being finicky in death. I had one that showed correct charging voltage when the bike was first started. After a few mins it would stop charging. I switch off the ignition and back on and it would start charging again. I'll add that I'd checked the stator's output (3phase system) and it was within limits.
It seems reg/recs are a very common failure on all types of bikes, so much so I installed a LED that glows green when getting charged and red when it isn't. At least it would give me enough time to limp off a motorway or maybe get home.

				| I had a motobatt supplied by busters which was DOA (well thats what I told them ). You don't need to post them the whole battery, just pop the plastic cover off and send them that.
 More money than sense!
