Stripping sv650 forks

Im in the process of stripping my forks for a rebuilt and setup to my weight, upon striipng one side everything went great until i come to other side where the allen key under the fork leg spins and spins and spis and spins.

im no fork guru but is this the damping rod just spinning inside the leg if so how do i hold it and get this allen key bolt loose ? .

Bung a broom handle down the other end of it, apply pressure, and undo the bolt.

As you now have one undone. Get a bolt in the top of the damping rod so you know the correct size. Get said bolt welded on a bar long enough to reach down to the rod. This will save lots of trouble next time. Or if you have a welder do it now and you will split the other side easy enough.
